Really sorry to hear that, Elaine. You must feel so helpless. Keeping you all in my thoughts x16

That's a really nasty mix elaine - for the whole family. Fingers crossed for you.
On a completely different note, I had seen the holes in the "butterfly" type can-opener, and not at all by chance we have a screwdriver in the cutlery drawer as one of the saucepan handles goes wobbly under pressure. Thinking about it.you clamp the can-opener with your most cooperative hand and wind the screwdriver with the other one? Thinking hungrily, winding hopefully & upbraiding the post office for not posting batteries?15 -
announcement on lockdown and changes to 2021 exams both due at start of week. Lockdown announcement is supposed to be tomorrow, with it coming into force at 6pm on Friday night. Leaked details suggest all non essential shops & hospitality shut for 2 weeks. Advice to stay home / stay local for that period. Primaries, special schools and PRUs due back on 2nd Nov as normal. No decision made yet on secondaries as the exam years who most need to be in are also most likely to spread the virus. Lockdown planned to end 00.01 hours on 9th.elaine241 said: As we are in Wales we know that a new lockdown is coming, although it hasn't formally been announced yet. One sons head of year seem to think it will be announced Tuesday and come into force from next Friday, after the assessments.

I wish there was an option to opt in for remote learning for a second week for primary, I know probably not realistic but their charts have got to be wrong about the number of little people having it/spreading it, especially silently, if they don't have symptoms of course they wont be on their charts! It would be so interesting if in an ideal world there was mass testing and it showed true numbers. My DS reception year bubble is nearly 60 kids, I am having a slight wobble with him attending but we are now in the system and it would be cruel to pull him out. We all currently have a heavy cold bought home from school it doesn't fill me with much confidence about my sons hygiene level whilst at school.
Elaine that's awful, I wish your in laws a speedy recovery.
The pharmacy called, mine and DH flu vaccine has been cancelled due to stock shortage.

Does anybody store potatoes over winter? How do you find works best?

we store ours in the big paper sacks and leave in the shed. If the weather gets to minus something silly you could wrap them in old blankets etc. to stop them getting frosted.13
