I have tested POS for Covid. It wasn’t a great surprise as 2 of my sons and their families had tested POS. I babysat for them a week past Sat so they could go out and celebrate my son James 40th birthday. We were going to have a family party but there would have been 10 of us on the Fri and Sat and then 17 of us on the Sun. We cancelled that and I offered to babysit so 2 of my sons and wives and one of the kids could go out for a meal. We obeyed the 6 rule but still caught it.
On a brighter note I’m feeling better. I’ve got rid of the bad headache and am isolating at home. My infected grandchildren have been symptom free and my sons and wives are getting better though one of my DIL has had really bad earache with it.Stay safe everyone!21 -
Missychrissy, I'm glad you're already feeling better - hope that trajectory continues for you. All the best.

Missychrissy, sorry to hear you tested positive. I'm glad you are feeling ok and seem to be improving though. Long may that continue. Glad your family is doing OK, though sorry to hear your daughter in law is suffering with her ear. Earache is really unpleasant. Take care xxFebruary wins: Theatre tickets12

Missychrissy glad you are feeling better but take it easy! It has a habit of making you think you are well enough to conquer the world again then it reminds you that you are not! My poor niece has got it atm after her house mate tested pos, they are not testing other house mates at uni just assuming if one if pos the others are pos too. She is suffering with a dreadful cough, feeling awful and thumping constant headache. They are keeping an eye on her as she has had asthma in the past but seems to have grown out of it. Hope you feel well soon xx

Missychrissy, I'm also hoping you continue to improve. Be sure to rest for the next few days, even when you don't think you need to!
DD1 visited our county town last weekend, and was horrified to find a large number of the High St. shops had closed their doors for good. This spring, it was bustling. We're not exactly shopping-mad down here, outside of the conurbation, though we've only lost a couple so far out here on the outskirts; I'd be interested to hear how it's going elsewhere in the country. Are your local shops & cafés bustling, or beginning to go dark?Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)14 -
I had to go into my nearby town a couple of weeks ago (not having been much further than the village since lockdown).
I was stunned and appalled at the state of the town. Lots of places boarded up, not many people about. It was a market day when it should have been heaving and there were, I think, about 4 stalls. I didn't go into many shops but none seemed to have more than a couple of people in, and some were empty. There was a queue for Primark. This used to be a thriving dynamic mining town. It started to go down a bit when the pits shut and now this seems to have almost killed it off. Very sad to see.

maryb said:I buy my meat from a farm in Kent which used to have a mobile shop at a local garden centre. It specialises in grass fed beef and lamb and uses homeopathic remedies where possible. We were driving one day and found ourselves close to the farm itself so popped into their farm shop. I asked the manager what the difference was between their beef and organic, since they don't spray their pastures and he said the only thing that they couldn't comply with was because the neighboring farmer did spray his land and besides that it was a very costly compliance procedure. Then he took us on a tour of the farm. And yes, when the cows saw him, they came lumbering up for a pat and a stroke. They were definitely happy healthy cows. He didn't have enough grazing on the farm so he rented some grazing a short distance away so the cows were used to being transported and he used a small local abattoir so they weren't traumatised on the last journey.
Best thing of all - the prices are comparable with Waitrose . For much nicer meat
