MingVase said:I think maybe a spreadsheet would make life more complicated.. it's a very individual thing prepping and you need to work out what you eat and how much of it etc etc. The old-fashioned way before spreadsheets were invented (in the Dark Ages lol) was to start with multi purpose foods that can be used in many ways.. like pkts of soup mix, porridge oats, broth mix, flour, etc. Then sit down with a bit of paper & a pencil and write down what you've been eating in the last 2 weeks and add that in. And so on.~Not being sarky in any way here, just adding my wee bit in for anybody else like me who doesn't know what a spreadsheet isI didn't think you were being sarky, oh MingVase the Merciless! Thanks for the advice. I've already got the multi-purpose stuff sorted. I was just thinking that the spreadsheet sounded as if it would make seeing what was missing, working out amounts needed, costing etc a bit easier. Suffering from dyscalculia, I find that anything that'll work out the numbers for me saves a wealth of pain!BTW - none of the above is meant in a sarky way either...A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!

Well, flu jab this morning and I'm seriously impressed with the way our local surgery has it organised. Turn up at but not before appointed time (one every 4 minutes) with jacket off, mask on and upper arm at the ready, enter by clearly marked door to get name-checked by receptionist just inside. Instructed to walk slowly along clearly marked path so that magic camera on far wall can take your temperature, turn corner and come to halt on nearest one of big spots marked on floor 2m apart while doing hands with sanitiser provided. Patient 2m in front moves to doorway at end of corridor, stops, gets jab, departs through clearly marked separate exit as your turn comes up. And so forth. It's marvellously efficient, but you really do feel for the poor staff who have to deal with the idiots who can't follow the clearest of instructions, and of course those with an inflated sense of their own importance who think it doesn't apply to them.Nice to see that some organisations can still get it together when needed. And even nicer to scrump 28.5Kg of Bramleys on the way back home ...We're all doomed19

That is really good @Si_Clist It reminds me of getting my flu jab when I was in Holland. It was the year of the swine flu vaccine, and they had it setup in a similarly efficient manner (though without the temperature camera or social distancing back then). My jab is on Monday at Lloyds pharmacy. A colleague went to Boots yesterday and asked about getting a jab there, and they were already fully booked. Said they were getting more in, but weren't sure when!I am now in the office 3 X week. Have to do temp check on arrival. It's a forehead scan one. Really no accurate. I walk in, so my forehead is always too cold to get a reading, so they ask me to do wrist instead, but that still gives a reading of 35.6. I should say that by the time I arrive at work, I am sweating having power walked for the last 15 minutes! But, all of the other measures in place mean that I do feel very safe in the office currently. There are even sanitisers in the toilet cubicles and you have to clean the seat before and after use, and keep the lid down for flush. Only one person allowed in the toilets at the time. They installed a sign on the door, which you move to occupied/unoccupied. Obviously wash & dry hands, get back into our part of the office, sanitise again and so on and so on.28.5kg of Bramleys?! Oh wow! Jealous now!February wins: Theatre tickets16

Sounds really efficient, Si Clist. I've been waiting for the free jab from my GP, but it carries on not happening ...

I got a text at 4.15p.m. today advising that the flu jabs were in. Rang surgery and got appointment for 5.05p.m. I was called by the nurse at 5.00 p.m. and stabbed acordingly. She asked me if I was allergic to eggs. I asked if I could just eat some eggs, but apparently not.
I'm currently visiting my mother in hospital every day. I wish they were as efficient as the doctors.16 -
One thing's puzzling me about the flu jabs though. I get mine on the NHS because I'm over 65, and I get the trivalent one. My wife, who is not yet 65, gets hers free on the NHS because she's "shielding", and she gets the quadrivalent one - not because she's shielding, but solely on account of her not yet being 65!Needless to say, if we both elected to pay for ours at the chemist's, we'd both get the quadrivalent one. Does that make any kind of sense to anybody? We're all doomed16
