One of the things I've checked this week is the first aid box, not some thing we end up using a lot, turns out most of the stuff had perished, so replacing stuff for that this week, at the moment tweezers and plasters are all I've got to work with, unless you've got a headache, I must put a note on the calendar to check it once a year, bad prepping on my part. Still I'm learning.£71.93/ £180.0013

If we have power cuts I have a collection of oil lamps all of which are fully functional. As a child in the 70's I remember the rolling power cuts and mum using a big oil lamp on the dining room table.

I have just caught up with 5 pages and started to update my shopping lists.
With reference to Ecoballs for washing, I bought one in late April 2019 when staying in the Lake District, it came with some extra balls and I have only recently bought ones to top-up. Just 2 in the household, but OH does a lot of cycling as well as gardening so quite a lot of washing, I wash at 30 and 40 degrees most of the time and add Napisan to the washes for towels, bedding and undercrackers. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Popped to Boot this morning to pick up more hayfever meds, and noticed they had two full stands of masks, gloves, antibac gel, and pocket antibac wipes. Also, the staff all wore masks too, and maintained social distance and someone was cleaning all the till surfaces when I was there. So, if you need any of that stuff, Boots is good (and very quiet first thing in the morning). Pocket wipes are great for out and about if you need to wipe something down (handles etc).My GP has also introduced an 'Ask My GP' service online, where you can request your repeat scripts, or an appointment, telephone consultation etc, and help keep the lines free for those who can't use online/don't have access. I used it for my hayfever meds this week and it was much, much more straightforward than the old patient access thing, and it was very effective and efficient. I was pleasantly surprised. Worth checking with your surgery if anyone has repeat stuff/simple requests.I guess now is a good time to also start thinking about whether or not you have enough warm blankets/duvets/clothes/waterproofs for the upcoming winter months. Anything that will help you stay warm indoors if heating stops working/you need to keep bills down, and anything to keep you warm and dry outside, so you can still get out and about for some fresh air when the weather is pants.February wins: Theatre tickets15

Gross or not?
Whilst putting feed out for the birds I noticed the containers that have the dried meal worms in are suitable for storing food. They are "no 5" polypropylene and have the food safe symbol of a wine glass and fork stamped on the lid and the base. These containers would be airtight and could easily store 1 kilo of dried food.
My question is would you use these containers to store preps after knowing what was in them previously?
I have washed one in the dishwasher and it has stood up to the high temperatures without warping. I am seriously thinking of using these as they stack easily and you can see what is in them.
Your thoughts??

Wouldn't bother me in the least elaine as long as they had been well washed

Yes, given a good hot wash I would definitely use them, meal worms and most other insects I believe are edible and not likely to harm humans. I'm not squeamish and if it's a good servicable container why not use it?14
