Try for multi packs of tomatoes, they only count as one item.14

I am dehydrating everything in sight because dried stuff takes up so little room and is so light. I regularly buy the Waste Not £1.50 box at Lidl and use suitable stuff in my green smoothies and dry the rest for austerity. Today I have 28 satsumas, 18 yellow tomatoes, radishes, spring onions drying and yesterday I cooked and dried mashed potato, onions, red tomatoes. I will start stocking up on laundry and cleaning stuffs and all the freezers are full to bursting, so as long as I refill them in the interim I should get through winter. The things I am holding off buying are whole wheat flour and brown rice, but I am drying some sourdough starter to keep in the freezer just in case. The vacuum sealer will be working overtime splitting up the perishable items into smaller quantities.
I hope everything goes well for you GQ and that you have a good recovery.

Thanks for your well-wishes, hun. I wish my Liddly did these boxes but it never has.

@euronorris I get my spices and herbs and lots of other interesting groceries for here: https://www.redrickshaw.com/ Hope it helps.
In terms of my prepping for the 2nd Wave, I need to get plenty more yeast, but still struggling to buy in my area. got plenty toilet roll, toiletries etc but need really could do with another freezer, maybe a chest freezer. I tend to batch cook. My husband is vegan, I'm keto and my son a health freak so we usually end up eating separately which is a nightmare.

Re washing stuff, a few weeks ago someone offered some old "ecoballs" on our local freegle group. I'd always wanted to try them but didn't want to risk the initial investment, so asked for them although they were from 2013. To cut a long story short, I was delighted with their performance, not having any muddy boys at home any longer but still with young ladies who seem to require 10 towels a day each, never mind the tea-towels. So I have now bought an up-to-date version & passed the originals on to another Freegler, who messaged me last week to say that she too was delighted with them - and she does have muddy boys still at home! The thing is, this should do us 1,000 washes before I need to buy a pack of mineral refills, and it's considerably kinder to the environment too, as well as not taking up nearly as much space as bottles & packets of detergent & conditioner. Worth considering if you're worrying about future-proofing your laundry!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)15

Re the fridge we unblocked the drainage hole a few months ago and that did solve it for a while but now it seems to be worse than it was the first time, we had a week of electrics breaking on us, hoover belt snapped we have a james hoover as backup and baby bottle machine broke we are using the kettle now.
I completely forgot about the ecoball route! I will look into getting one, we have a crazy amount of washing with 3 muddy boys, would the ecoball work with washing for covid wise though?14 -
Thrifty - hope it didn’t knock your confidence too much. The last time I held my grandson he was a week old and tiny, exactly 6 months on he is affectionally known as the UNIT 😂😂 We’ve never had such a bonny baby in this family but unfortunately I’ve missed my best chances for cuddles.I’m exhausted, still not feeling any better and dreading shielding being over next month. The risk to me are still the same – although I’m beginning to wonder if I haven’t already got it!
The symptoms seem to differ a lot – but I’ve never been ill like this before. It’s getting me down because I haven’t been able to spend any time in the garden for the last month – and I’ve got piles of stuff everywhere. too weak to unpack and break down the boxes.
I treated myself to a new microwave but it’s heavier than me - I can’t get it out of the box and up on the side in the kitchen😂
I tried to cancel my government boxes but ask for weekly support instead over the telephone but for some reason, couldn’t even get that right.I’m not going to complain about the boxes but it’s not a varied enough diet. I’ve lost my appetite for all white carbs and anything tomatoey - And I’d rather go without me than ever eat any of it out of tin again. That’s worth bearing in mind for anyone prepping – you do need to have some appetising variety 😃13 -
we were grateful to have bought chorizo pre lockdown. You only need a little bit for big flavour.
cured meats (salami etc) and pate have quite long dates by fridge item standards and were great to add variety to lunchesknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...17
