Why are you so concerned Money? I gathered from your recent posts that you have no intention of doing anything asked of you anyway. "A matter of principle" if I remember correctly.
I am so sorry that you are confused, but can't help wondering why it matters.I believe that friends are quiet angels

MoneySeeker1 said:This is where I'm confused and wondering what posters mean by "putting area into Lockdown" - as everywhere in the country is in Lockdown anyway - with most things shut and the added restrictions imposed on those of us in Wales and Scotland (grr!).
Presumably they mean changing from doing things "the English way" to doing things the "Welsh/Scottish" way:
- that "2 households" thing, rather than "6 people"
- that "no more than 5 miles if possible" thing
??If you didn't want to live under different rules from England, why on earth did you move from England into Wales? Surely you realised it was under its own governance?
Regarding distancing, I understand that you don't drive, that you don't have a car and that, as there is limited public transport at present, you probably aren't going to be more than 5 miles from home anyway, unless you intend walking or cycling? No one's going to stop you going for a long hike or bike ride if you really want to get out from behind your computer and take the air.Seems to me that you're getting yourself into a lather about not being able to do things which you probably couldn't or wouldn't be doing anyway.Where I come from, we call that sort of attention-seeking behaviour being a drama queen, hun.

Most countries would point out that we've never really been 'locked down' in the way that other places have. We've been allowed out to exercise, and to work if we can't work from home - even some non-essential roles. Other countries have been confined to their homes other than food shopping (max one person per household per day) or for medical attention. What we have had is some specific restrictions, but not 'lockdow'. This may well explain why our death rate is so high relative to elsewhere, and may result in a longer period of restrictions of some kind of activities as well as surges in the virus (the NHS and funeral directors are already planning for the next surge over the summer - R rates suggest that they are right to do so).
Frankly the Welsh/Scottish way of easing restrictions is likely to have much better results that what's going on in England. This morning's news about different strains of the virus in different parts of the country should at least help show where movement of people is resulting in these strains moving around, but it also validates the point that having had the virus is unlikely to confer immunity. Research already shows that very few people who are infected are producing the kind of antibodies that would neutralise a further infection, although some that do have neutralising capability have been identified and are being used to investigate antibody therapy. So there are no guarantees, so common sense needs to be applied... minimise contact with other people in terms of both number and proximity. Be vigilant about hygiene because you can't be sure other people are (case in point, a workman who was here the other day came into the house to find me (agains the rules), touched the doors, leaned against the door frame, and when asking me to look at a diagram got far too close instead of putting it down for me to go over and look at. I've been doing a lot of disinfecting, and am considering avoiding seeing the family members I have been seeing for the next couple of weeks in case.
I'm already suffering from post-Covid fatigue. It's a known issue, which I'm relieved about otherwise I'd wonder what was going on. The pandemic is going to be followed by an epidemic of fatigue which we're going to have to accommodate. I'm certainly going to make an effort to minimise the risk to myself and others - I don't want to get it again, and I don't want anyone else to have to suffer it, even in the 'mild' form that I've had.20 -

Speaking of masks I have ordered some of the metal strips you put over the nose and plan to get sewing them. I have plenty of cottons but not sure thread count so ordered a 400 thread count single bedsheet from my favourite bedding shop on ebay, I know their quality is great and stands up well to bleaching and boiling ( female dogs and seasons mean daily bed changing, boiling and bleaching). So this will be used for the inside next to face them can use the fancy cotton I have for outside and use good quality paper towels as filters until, if ever, I can actually get hold of filters.
I googled them and found them for £9.99 for a box of 10 (free P&P) on the henrywebsite.
If you open the bags up you would be able to cut out a fair few filters.14 -

My current little blue Henry with his smiley face has quite a few packs of those fiters in his bag of tools. I buy them when on offer so have a bit of a stash.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Just came back from a brief flit to the allotments and went into a Liddly on the return journey. More people wearing masks than last week, a mixture of surgical type and what appear to be home-sewn ones. Encouraging, I thought.

Please don't leave squirrelgirl and Jazee, on every thread spat's crop up, there is the block button so you don't see a persons post if you find them disturbing, but you have both given ideas as well as asking good questions that make people think.£71.93/ £180.0015
