Nol need for anyone to leave. I wont post here again. I've made my last ever post to Money. I honestly find it very sad that someone has gone through life and allowed the past to control the future.Take care and stay well all.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Ok have a missed something or being thick? I have read some "direct" posts aimed at Moneyseeker1 but I don't understand why? I take it, it is something said in the past and that they (she?he?) have upset people and hence the posts. Then I see people leaving as it has got nasty. I have learnt a lot from this thread and don't see why anyone would leave due to someone elses posts; just block them and you don't have to see or read anything you don't want to. That way you can continue to learn new things, add your own pearls of wisdom, discuss current events and get ideas and support if things are not going so well.
Which is exactly what I aim to do , just a thought!

VJsmum said:OH says we won't go back to the old way of shopping but i think in normal times it's still quicker to pop to Aldi than sort out the online order and go and fetch it. I will keep up with the farm shop though and have long used the butcher and will continue to do so - especially with this stuff about the American meat coming in.I miss the old way of shopping. But the problem is, I expect to be 'shielding' for the foreseeable future. I miss not being able to judge the quality of the produce, the degree of ripeness, or choose a decent use by date etc. Plus with online, you are never quite sure what products are going to make it to the delivery. You can build a whole meal around something then find the key ingedients aren't there on the day - but everything else is. As for clothes, I recently ordered some socks from M&S - a reliable brand you would think, but no - wafer thin material. I've had better from discount places like Yorkshire Trading. I'm thinking maybe you have the right idea. Get fresh produce from local shops (fortunately we have some good ones which have started delivering) and save the supermarket shop for non foods. And maybe alcohol. And ice cream....

frosty said:Hi, I purchased a box of hepra flo hoover bags ( for Henry cylinder vac),they filter out fine particles.
If you open the bags up you would be able to cut out a fair few filters.
I live miles from Lidl so it's very rare we go there, only if they have something on special I really want and the price is worth the petrol and time.
Vista let me put things in the cart but will not load the checkout page so just take a note and try again later - delivery it states for them in July. I had seen posts on forums saying vista was doing masks, filters and visors in the US but had not realised they were doing so in the UK.
With using the bags as filters I now will have excess paper towels as have quite a few of the good quality ones arriving tomorrow, ( only about 5 double packs) bought to be used as disposable filters, ah well not as if it's going to go off and so long as no more floods. Could change my order but I have a feeling if I do one day I will be cursing the fact I did not get them. Might find if the Henry bags work well that they will be the next 'toilet roll' rush. I have heard some compost supplies say its the new toilet roll.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

I have 7 home-made cotton masks, in the style shaped to your face, with elastic ear-loops. They have heavy duty fusible Vilene inside, so each mask is 4 layers thick; cotton, vilene, vilene, cotton. I'm hopeful that the mixture of woven and non-woven fabrics will be useful. I've got adept at running them up now.
I have noticed a slow but steady increase in mask-wearing in public. It reminds me slightly of what happened with bicycle helmets. When I started wearing one, circa 1990, they weren't a common sight here, and small boys on the street used to point and jeer. This was tiresome, of course, no one likes to be mocked, even by silly little boys. However, helmet-wearing progressively increased until its present 50-60% mark, and the jeering long since died away. I have a feeling that mask-wearing is on the same trajectory. Some persons of style and fashion are even making them an stylish accessory. If it becomes a fashion, the sky's the limit with all the different fabrics out there. It could be that mask-wearing, particularly if one has symptoms of a cold, becomes the done thing, in which case we should all have fewer upper respitory tract infections in the coming winter.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Pollyanna don't you dare leave! The people who flounce off whenever they see a post they don't like won't last long as preppers anyway - you did!! Some people spend their entire bloody lives looking for offence so they can kick off and stage a drama. You know an awful lot Polly about how to survive, and people are going to need all the help they can get to do that in this next year.
I appreciate and value your knowledge and friendship Pollyanna xxx

Si_Clist said:Ooooooooooooh! We're after some new sheets. Care to whisper who that might be?
They are not the thick heavy sheets, I do have them but as I sleep always with the dogs I only put them on when I really feel I want to wallow in luxury as a few times the dogs play fighting with each other on the bed has ended in torn sheets and at £50+ per sheet they are too expensive to replace.
So after much trial and error, found this seller and their sheets are lovely to lie on, don't pile and even ones I have bleached and boiled many, many times are still going strong ( why do the dogs never tear the cheaper ones). I only ever buy white so I can if the colour fades on coloured ones over time but the white, stay white
I just noticed they have 500 thread count sheets now so I ll order one single flat to see what it's like and to use for mask making.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

I hope that no-one feels the need to leave this very useful thread, I blocked the person with multiple identities a while ago, so do not see the original posts, but of course catch them when quoted. It may be that some people who are upset do not know the never ending back story, if so please accept that recent comments are to my mind justified in the light of totally uncalled for upset caused to innocent posters year after year. (On other threads too i seem to remember)

On reflection Mardymar I posted in the heat of the moment and took the thread off course.I notice both GC and Monna had posted too. Many posters here probably don;t remember me. I haven't posted much here. I did post often on the SHTF thread all the way from Vanoonoos origianl posts to other incarnations.I came to this thread again a few weeks ago and noticed a very familiar scenario taking place. One which had closed both preppers, and tougher threads in the past. I came back a short time ago and did a few posts.Elaine is correct re past history . Monna,GQ myslf and othere including Floss and a lot of well known MSErs spent years trying to show the poster things could be different and better.I suppose I acted automatically . I blame a lot on reading "Pollyanna" as a child and learning to play the glad game. Turning negatives into positives however difficult.I think dear Maddie has summed things up well in her post.I seem to still be able to post . Possibly blocked by some posters now but thank you dear Mardymar for your kind words and your friendship. You probably missed my post re the cat and the comfy recliner but all is forgiven and she can lie in it as long as she wants.Just going to get something to eat and make a brew then I'll head to a much neglected thread and hope to see both yourself and Maddie there at some point.Love Pollyxx. It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
