It’s certainly true that you can live without a mattress or wm much longer than without food! Down here the tip is open but only for urgent things that can’t be stored safely at home and you have to book an appointment I think. When we ordered the desk they only had two legs and the tabletop in stock, and now that the other two legs are back in stock there’s no delivery slots 😬

We got a new mattress about a month before lockdown. DH cut up the old one and put it in the black bin , a few bits every week. It took ages to get rid of it all so not sure I'd recommend it9

I've noticed quite a few things out of stock with no indication of replenishment. I think a lot of places are selling what they have but are unable or unwilling to secure further supplies. I've been trying to kit out the grandchildren with odds and ends that they will need before too long, e.g. jeans, coats etc. ready for the autumn but whenever they pick anything it is either out of stock or only available in either the very small or very large sizes. When I have found stuff, delivery is talking about July.
I think lots of things will be quite scarce soon. Temporarily I hope.13 -
I have found many bargains on the dreaded Facebook marketplace. I have found a table to replace the one in the play room which literally fell apart, a walk in small poly tunnel and an emergency washing machine as mine decided to spectacularly self destruct! Living on a farm with teenage boys I cant go without one! OK I had to collect these items, which I appreciate not everyone can or is willing to do. They were all local, social distancing observed and probably less likely to have been touched by many hands. Just a thought for those struggling for items not in stock etc and of course more environmental! The tips here are open for appointment only, which as you can imagine is booked up! I will wait and book a trailer in as I have a fair collection of large items!

I have been concentrating on the veg garden in the mornings as by mid afternoon it is a furnace! Being walled it literally is incredibly hot but the veg seem to be loving it. I went to brother in laws farm a mile up the road to collect netting for my fruit bushes today, socially distancing at all times.(Even though the farm shop is open.) He has gone mad on the veg growing!! Enough to feed a small army and very impressive! It seems the underlying feeling of there maybe shortages or price rises in the future has permeated to a lot of people locally, many of whom have never grown veg before.
BIL is adamant he had coronavirus over the Xmas period, a work colleagues daughter was very friendly with two Chinese children that came back from China with a nasty bug, daughter caught it, then mother, who passed onto BIL and OH. They were very unwell, high fever, shakes, cough aching and literally unable to stand. "Luckily" they were away in a cottage for the two weeks and didn't pass it on to anyone. Even after two weeks they were worried about driving the couple of hours home as they felt so weak. He said it took a couple of months to feel any where near normal again and only feels back on form in the last few weeks.
I am continuing to go to town once a week for groceries, shopping for a shielding friend, running errands and basically trying to get everything done in one day. OH is self employed ground worker who has continued to work, but short time, through out the whole pandemic. This week he is at the local convent sorting out the drainage problems on their farm, literally outstanding in his field!! Avoiding the nuns as they are all elderly, usually they bring him a cold beer in the afternoon but he has told them not to. I am venturing out for a second time this week as I am renting out a flat to a new tenant, there is no way to sign a rental agreement other than meeting! We will observe social distancing as she is a carer for elderly patients .
As for the future I think I will continue to try and avoid busy shops and venues if at all possible, wear PPE, use anti viral spray and generally just be vigilant. Hopefully my local riding club will start up again as social distancing when on a horse is pretty easy. It is falling off which could be difficult! Older son plays rugby and is missing it dreadfully. He was due to go to Canada on tour in July and has been saving and looking forward to it for over a year. I feel gutted for him but hopefully it can be re arranged for next year. He is pretty resigned to not playing for months but says he is in a good place and is not as bad as the poor people who have lost their lives, he is 15!Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1209 -

I bought a few packs but find it doesn't rise very well, even with extra yeast, compared to Waitrose flour. I wonder if it doesn't like being packed in plastic bags? That was me! I haven't tried making bread with it yet but will do next time. Perhaps the gluten content is lower? It's the gluten that holds in the air bubbles produced by yeast. I've been using various Ocado-delivered flours up till now - Homepride, Dove's Farm - and they've been good. I wouldn't have thought the plastic bags would make any difference.I've still a couple more pages to catch up on here, I tend to look in once a week.

Very (cautiously) happy to have found bread machines in stock at Lakeland. Ours is definitely on its way out and it would be disastrous if it broke and we couldnt replace it given we just bought 25kg of white bread flour! 7 to 10 days delivery so won't be celebrating just yet though11
