Congratulations from me too! And you're brave, going up into the loft so quickly, but the books & art materials will be worth it.
I'm not so worried about the social pressure to lift the lockdown; I think the Government will stand up to that. But I am anxious that economic pressure will force an early lifting; the current crew are basically bankrolled by big business & though a few are doing well out of it (Amaz0n, big pharma) most aren't...Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)10 -

Many congratulations on the safe arrival of your baby boy, Thriftygifty! It must have been strange time to be pregnant, but bringing a new life into the world right now seems a wonderfully reassuring thing. I wish you and your family all the very best!10

Congratulations Thrifty......while i would err on the side of saving lives caution....and i think the lockdown should stay in place....but there is a cost also of the economic consequences ...been reported doing nothing would cost 250k lives....and i bet parts of the Tory party would have gladly paid that....but maybe they factored in the political cost...and grudgingly locked down.....the austerity coming down the track is frightening and the possible societal response against that also worrying ...when im off , im nipping out for basket of shopping every few days but im out only half hour and if a shop is too busy i dont bother.....stay safe13

Were I live we have pretty much total compliance, I think some of the comments are a bit harsh. There is just me and Hub but after 5 weeks with one/two/three kids with no outside distractions I'd be climbing the walls. Some of us have no real financial downside to this but so many have, just to add to their issues. If neighbours chose to expose themselves to infection, well that's their problem, as long as we stay clear of them. The harsh reality is that in the next few weeks business will need to start again, the economy can not financially support most of the country for more than a short periods. Life may never get back to 'normal' as we remember it but a little understanding to the pressures that others are under would not go amiss. We need to embrace our own new normal.21
