How's small ones nose now Euronorris? hope the bruising has gone down and she no longer looks like Burglar Bill and has no ongoing discomfort.
I discovered at the back of a cupboard a few weeks ago a 5kg sack of chapatti flour that is 3 years.....YES! out of date, hoiked it into the kitchen and there it's been for a couple of weeks as I decided what to do with it. 3 years out of date I thought for whole wheat flour is either going to be rancid or bug ridden. The debate has been going on in my head but today I thought 'what the heck' and opened it anyway, fully intending to do the EUGH! dash to the bin. How wrong can I be? the flour is perfectly fine, not rancid, not a bug in sight and I made us a dozen bread rolls with just the chapatti flour, normally I'd use half white, and they came out beautifully done, just not quite as fluffy as normal bread dough as chapatti flour is made from a soft wheat without as much gluten as the durum types. I'm very happy with the flour and the flavour and texture of the bread is lovely so if you find chapatti flour on offer, snap it up it's so worth having.

Our fridge died and we put it in the garage to be taken to the tip. Then Covid-19 arrived so it's been sat in the garage for a while. Lightbulb moment: Took the door off, hoiked it onto a side of the path and the shelves are now full of seedlings and tomato plants, Bob Flowerdew would be so proud of us!
Normal people worry me.16 -

Productive day in the Thrifty household.
Sent DH into the loft to get the old baby toys out, ignored care label and off they ventured into the washing machine, they have come up like new and dried in the sunshine I'm so pleased.
DH rounded up stray strawberry plants that were scattered and being over shadowed by weeds and raspberry cains, whilst in the loft he found the large terracotta herb planter which we bought in france a few a years ago but never used its now home to several happy strawberry plants, I would have prefered a strawberry bed but didnt want to risk loosing them whilst sorted an area, we've also got some more in some other pots they stand a better chance there than where they were.
The hughlight of the day... DH and my Dad fixed the cement mixer well bodged it long enough to get it going and the greenhouse base finished!! Baby has stayed put, but ready to have him now the greenhouse base is done, priorites 😂. Once I'm home from hospital parents will be back to isolating next door as will we for atleast 2/3 weeks minimum, new grandchild will be seen from a window.16 -

I've just had a text from my surgery saying my repeat medication has been changed to repeat dispensing for the next three months, so I don't have to order from the surgery for that time. I'm guessing that they are run off their feet with staff off work.2025 Fashion on the ration

Thanks MrsLW she is absolutely fine now. Swelling has pretty much completely gone, and bruising has gone through it's colour cycle and now on it's way out. The scabs on her nose have dropped off, and she hasn't complained of pain with it since the day it happened! Was a bit painful for us to get her back into her own bed, after 2 nights in with me. But stood firm and now she is back to normal. Back to thinking she is invincible and giving me a heart attack at least 5 times a day! 😂😂February wins: Theatre tickets12

jamanda said:Just a thought - we are currently replacing the long aging hose pipe and buying new blades for garden machinery (shredder, hedge cutter etc.) in case we either can't get them later or can't afford them because OH's job goes bang. Instead of encouraging him to make do, I'm now insisting on prepping that sort of thing to enable us to keep going. Poor boy is wandering round his shed and garden wondering what he might need later. Worth a check of your tools while replacements are available.
