Sadly true re most flour. Himself snagged a big bag (3 kg?) at Tesco 2 weeks ago - ever since if there has been flour, it's been the vegan enthusiast sort not good robust Canadian bread flour. He'd told me to boost on baking powder & yeast a couple of months back & so we've tins of the stuff - and the remains of the open tin was used to coach the lads in how to treat yeast & make real bread pizza bases. It may be that flour is coming in, just in industrial sacks & the repackaging to retail units is glitched - if so a few phone calls & we'll try & get one delivered. A colleague & his good lady dined on steak that might have gone to a restaurant last week - the supplying butcher grumbled and a fellow cricket enthusiast spread the word and lo, deliveries from a business that "doesn't normally, but"...
Senior gentlemen? Round my way it's the womenfolk, quietly getting on with it & seeming to rather enjoy not having the comet's trail of children...11 -

Both Tesco and Morrisons had assorted makes of ordinary plain wheat flour available online when I looked last week, including the own-label cheapo stuff, so presumably they also had it in the shops at least some of the time. If you do manage to get hold of any kind of mainstream plain flour, don't forget that if you're not fussy, you don't need strong flour to make bread. You can make no-knead (AKA bung-it) bread with just about any mainstream flour: we make ours as in this video

You can even re-use the same square of greaseproof 2-3 times, and make a denture-friendly chewy version by baking it in a casserole dish with the lid on

Thanks hun, feel a bit bad about not being around more, as my nonsense seems to have been missed - must.do.better.
Am now off to the allotments to show various weeds Cold Steel and water the seedlings in my cold frame.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

My local Lidl had every type of flour last week including bread flour - which makes sourdough which is just as good as my organic flour which for the price was probably planted by the light of the new moon and crooned over with lullabyes before being harvested by that good looking chap off the BBC Victorian Farm using a sickle and bare chested, of course - or am I confusing him with Poldark? It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!13

Dear Preppers
Apologies, I'm miles behind in posts - 6 weeks! - so I don't know if this book has been mentioned before, but I saw it and thought of you. The Disaster Preparedness Handbook turned up on my daily Bookbub email. The Kindle version is on sale at Amazon for £1.99.
Stay safe and keep well.

My tesco order for next week has bread flour on it...for now. No guarantee it won't be removed between now and then though. I should try for more yeast really.
Been busy dealing bits of the sink, and the shower screen. House will be cleaner than we moved in by the end of this! LolFebruary wins: Theatre tickets10
