DigForVictory said:...strawberries, jam for the making when I have the certo.Certo???? Too expensive for us - we use lemon juice instead with strawberry. Even works well when it's a year past its best before, providing you buy the stuff that's lemon juice (eg Tesco own label) rather than water and lemon oil.We actually overdid the jam production last year on account of I picked 53lb of raspberries off the allotment and somehow or other managed to find 62lb of brambles, so we're scaling it back this year. That's why when I started buying the sugar as soon as it became obvious which way the wind was likely to be blowing, I was instructed to stop after 35Kg ...

I also added jam sugar to my last order in anticipation of summer fruit
was very lucky with eggs. Ocado delivered almost 24 2 weeks ago. So I reduced my morrisons order to 6, last week, and have done the same to the asda one due on Tuesday. But even if I can't get them, I know a local farm shop that stays well stocked on eggs and is very quiet! So can pop there if needs be. Was also lucky on flour front. No bread flour anywhere, but morrisons did deliver my plain and self raising last week, so am pleased with that.
Neighbour set her karaoke kit up outside her front door and invited us all to a game of doorstep bingo this afternoon. All distanced, of course. That was fun. She is now singing for everyone!February wins: Theatre tickets11 -
I have some jam sugar I bought with good intentions a few years ago and never opened... the problem is, we don’t eat very much jam! What do you do with all of it other than toast and jam tarts?Original mortgage free date: November 2044Current mortgage free date: November 2038Chipping away...10

1. Jam Roly-poly. Roll out suet pastry, spread with jam, roll up, seal ends and cook for about 30 minutes at 180- 200 depending on whether fan oven or not.
2. Christmas presents.9 -
A spoonful of jam on top of rice pudding. ground rice pudding or semolina is a thing of beauty too!9

Agreed, but don't forget tapioca (the "frog spawn") of our school dinners.

We've just been out for a lovely 3 milk walk along the lanes and footpaths near home and met just 2 people and a dog in all the time we were out! I've just picked a lovely big bunch of wild garlic from a clean area which is soaking in some salt water for an hour or so and I am going to make a big jar of pesto with it to have for meals this week, got to love a foraged free meal or two no?
Question...do any of you feel this situation is going to carry on for quite some time to come? i.e possibly into next winter? and has the thought that even though we've prepped for now we might be sensible to consider starting to prepare for next winter and putting in a couple of extras now come into your heads? it's certainly just dashed through mine and I'm wondering if that's a sensible thing to have in the back of my mind or if it's overkill?

Over prepping never hurt. As long as nothing is being wasted, then there's no reason not to do it if you have the time, energy and money to do so.I'm quite surprised that my food prepping has returned dividends and that I thought to do stuff ahead of time with regards to deliveries or picking up of things like compost, seeds etc before the lockdown. I will be ordering wood as soon as it's feasible, and making sure I have everything we need [not necessarily want] to live like this for a while. I am looking forward [?!] to 12 weeks indoors. I can see that being extended again.I'm not sure how long this will go on for, I can see it getting less and less as long as people stay in, but unless we know if people can be reinfected or how long they can be contagious for [ definitively] then I'll be preparing for the long haul.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi13
