Has this awful situation highlighted any holes in your preparations? Is there anything you are leaning on that you never thought would feature so highly when preparing for adversity? What would you do different?
For us, here, we are leaning on short grain pudding rice with added raisins and sweet spices made with powdered milk. That bit of sweet stodge is really helping us fill up and feel that little bit indulgent.

I make the hob-nobs with about a third less sugar & they're still lovely. I also tend to use spelt flour, if I have any going spare.Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)12

If I'd known I was going to work from home, I'd have sorted a proper desk And Chair sooner. (Be still, my aching back!) Also that I should wear my work trousers Every Day. Three days in leggings & ahem. I refuse to regret a single oaty biscuit but Sharing is important...
Si Clist did the maths on exactly how much paracetamol I would need In The Crunch, which came as something of a surprise but them Himself did a Before Coronavirus stocktake of all the stashed & the half used packets & binned Everything out of date. We did not replace them immediately, which with hindsight was dumb, but at least what we have now is current & largely has been bought at reasonable prices. (I intend to bear grudges towards certain retailers after this.)
I think I am going to regret not replacing the apple tree, or planting spuds & kale, but there is still time on all counts.
Himself just possibly may admit my habit of buying beans, tomatoes & rice from Costco (ie by the galore not the individual tin) has a point but we have exchanged high words on the matter & it would be a large dish of humble pie, so I am not expecting it.

I regret not buying more bread flour! Eeking out my few bags of strong flour with plain to make it go further. Should have got some variety as well, wholemeal, stoneground etc. Pleased I managed to find two little bags of mixed seeds as that is improving the loaves. Seems that oatmeal is more versatile than I could have imagined, definately need more!Slightly bitter12

I think there comes a point where your preps of some things are a burden, if you want to carry on as normal. I used to keep three 1.5kg bags of flour in the cupboard, which have lasted me 3 weeks. That's about all I can cope with rotating due to cupboard space & bodily strength.I'll sadly be on shop bread from Wednesday.Annoyed to find 2013 bay leaves in the back of my cupboard the other day. Luckily they still seem okay.12

I regret not switching to a milk delivery when I was looking to do so way before this and now its fully booked, I also regret not learning to cook/bake more than I can, and also not being better prepared for baby due.14

I regret not booking a fruit and veg box delivery as well as eggs and milk from the local milkman. Our local companies are no longer taking on new customers and trying to organise a delivery from a supermarket or other online food delivery place is proving very challenging.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!13

I'm glad I inadvertently stockpiled bath and shower gels for DD, and gifts meant for other childrens birthdays, whenever I saw them heavily reduced. We have quite the toiletry stash to get through, meaning I can easily keep bath time fun for her, whilst also practical. And the toys are good to be able to trickle feed when the weather is bad and we're still in lockdown. Also, in case we're still in this situation in early July for her birthday.
Don't have enough plain/sr flour, but also don't have masses of space to store it. Wish I'd stashed lots more chocolate, dr pepper and crisps than I did, but none of them are essentials.
I am missing fresh fruit. We are now down to some blueberries, a few grapes, 2 oranges and a pomegranate. Which isn't a lot when you have a hungry, growing child in the house and the delivery is still a week away. But, i do have a lot of dried fruit and some tinned fruit too, so will have to make do with that.
I have potatoes in now, but i shouldn't have let them get as low as they did.
And I just scraped in to get regular milk deliveries (and have managed to add bread to this), but I was very, very lucky. I intend to keep it once this is all over though. It's really nice milk.
Eggs are an issue. I wish I had gotten some powdered egg in before all this. Would have been perfect for cakes and saved the real eggs for meals.February wins: Theatre tickets14 -
