I don't normally post but I've just spent ages online to get peanuts for my squirrels and birds and my usual suppliers are out of stock!! 🙈 I'm actually surprised at that - I expected it to be difficult to get hold of human and pet food with panic buying but not wild bird & creature food 🤔 is it just me who finds it odd??
Incidentally, I have a friend who's freezer died on her last week and she can't get a new one for love nor money - apparently freezers and breadmakers are out of stock pretty much everywhere!!!15 -
So many of our electrical items come from China and as that hasn't been happening for over two months, the stocks held in this country are now running out.Spend less now, work less later.14

I went to mr A yesterday and wanted the Linda M meatballs. They had them but none of the packets had been sealed properly so they were all open at the sides, so I didn’t want to risk getting them. They had everything else, including quorn and vivera, though. I even managed to get some baked beans (!) which hopefully means people are done panic buying and normal supplies will resume. We did have to queue outside for around 20 minutes though as they were doing one in one out to maintain social distancing inside.Onebrokelady said:
We haven't been able to get our usual Quorn products for two weeks now, I've been trying to get vegan chicken pieces but the freezers are always empty, I also buy Vivera products and luckily have been able to get some of themGreenglockenspiel said:I’m a vegan and I’ve heard that others have been having similar issues to the lack of GF products, with people buying up the veggie sausages and soya milk etc. Fortunately I had a number of cartons of oat milk and bags of pulses in my cupboards anyway but we haven’t been able to get hazelnut or cashew milk since this all started. When I went to Mr T on Sunday they had plenty of chilled vegan alternatives (sausages, yoghurts etc) - they actually had plenty of most fresh items, but no beans of any sort. The only thing left in the beans/rice aisle was a few tins of quinoa - my neighbourhood isn’t the quinoa-eating demographic!
We’ve just used our lunch break to go to the allotment for our daily exercise and enjoy the sun. It was much less busy than at the weekend and they’d added sanitiser to the gate so you could sanitise before and after unlocking it. My boss said today that he was supportive of people working flexibly to be able to get their exercise during the daytime, so I might go down again at another lunchtime in the week.Original mortgage free date: November 2044Current mortgage free date: November 2038Chipping away...12 -
My laptop died and I found it really difficult to find a new one in stock, probably people buying them to work from home. Bicycles seem to be much the same too!squirrelgirl said:I don't normally post but I've just spent ages online to get peanuts for my squirrels and birds and my usual suppliers are out of stock!! 🙈 I'm actually surprised at that - I expected it to be difficult to get hold of human and pet food with panic buying but not wild bird & creature food 🤔 is it just me who finds it odd??

The run on breadmakers will not have been helped by the recent Which article listing the best buys...
You can do wonderful things with a table, a bowl, a warm (cat proofed) area [please don't ask] & you don't need to use a loaf tin. (Lads made bread rolls, some of which were bread roll shaped & others, ahem, not.)

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?12 -
We have 6 guinea pigs and the only thing they won't be having is fresh veg! Equestrian stores are still open so I will have to venture out for stocks, maybe able to find a bag of horse carrots as the weather has turned colder they may not go off too quickly. They will manage quite nicely on dried stock till this is over! Most equestrian stores hold stocks of all the pet food imaginable.squirrelgirl said:I don't normally post but I've just spent ages online to get peanuts for my squirrels and birds and my usual suppliers are out of stock!! 🙈 I'm actually surprised at that - I expected it to be difficult to get hold of human and pet food with panic buying but not wild bird & creature food 🤔 is it just me who finds it odd??

Did you find any yet, DFV?13 -
No. Beginning to wonder just how medieval I can get away with, & check out the pet food stores.
We're good for pease flour... Just you have to be a really hungry medieval peasant to think yep, that beats chappatis (other flatbreads are available!)
Even if I could get my beloved Canadian relatives to ship me a care package, I suspect it might get pulled by Customs (all that white powder).14
