Asda delivery arrived yesterday. Subs were ok, and almost all the order in stock. Just wondering what I'll do if they limit the number of items, as I've been shopping for 4 houses, ie, Dad's, two daughters with health issues, in separate houses who are self isolating, and ours. I have asthma so don't want to go to the supermarket. I took each order and left in their porch for them to pick up after I'd left. My Dad has a chronic health condition, so I'm his main carer, but I've only been going every 2 or 3 days and phoning in between to try to cut some of the risk.2025 Fashion on the ration

My neighbour has done some fresh food shopping for me. Which include some unbagged items such as bananas and cauliflower and some prepacked like sprouts, carrots and celery. How should I deal with these food, before storing to best protect myself. I am trying to keep away from shops/people where possible as no longer a yougster. However I am not defined as in the at risk group. Just trying to be careful.

Hi Littlemoney
If soap and water are meant to kill the virus then hopefully boiling will too so the veggies should be ok. Hand washing is recommended after touching anything, so maybe taking the prepackaged stuff out and disposing of that. I must admit I’m not sure about the fruit and salad stuff because if you use soap and water they could taste. If anyone is more knowledgeable please help.I hope I’ve been some help

Finally ordered some cloth nappies as emergency back up, I went to order from 1 of our usual eco shops and they had said as of this morning they are closed for new orders until further notice, I presume due to warehouse people mixing, fortunately the other eco shop that we use for wooden toys etc is still carrying on for the time being as there are only a couple of people in the warehouse, however I wonder for how much longer, I think more online stores will stop trading soon if they can't distance people in the warehouses enough, hopefully my order will arrive next week.
Also without wanting to make anyone cringe but with also wanting to share just encase others are not in the know, is everyone aware you can get very good reusable lady products? Just a thought if anyone may need, if you need anymore info feel free to ask i'm no expect but would rather have a backup, I also think schools should look into this service especially for people in poverty who cant afford these items granted i'm sure most would shun the idea but you never know.

Depending on what you have in your fabric stash, you may be able to get a head start and make your own
I stumbled at poppers, but am considering a button...6 -
I was in shock this morning, signed into Iceland ( only supermarket I buy from regularly) and was presented with slots for all day tomorrow, so after staring in disbelief and realising I was not imagining it ( I did click I am vulnerable, which I am but does make me feel so guilty but with 4 mouths to feed I have to swallow my pride and be grateful). So did my usual large monthly order - normally do one big one than small ones each week, mainly due to lack of space here. So I have 69 items on it, hopefully, if they go the Tescos route I will be below the cut-off. How many of them I, of course, will not know until it arrives tomorrow, last order 3 weeks ago, which was much smaller but then only two of us here and didn't know youngest would be back from Uni and we had to shelter her boyfriend and even then I did not receive everything. No pasta or eggs were available though.
Hubby had to pop up to Argos as youngest ( well our granddaughter but we brought her up) laptop died so as she still has lots of assignments to do for Uni and Amazon not doing usual quick delivery it was the only option to get one today. As Argos in Sainsbury's He did pick up some water ( I have constant dry mouth and even the meds doctors give don't help and I loathe our tap water - too much chlorine), some rollmops ( my breakfast sorted for a bit longer) some more dog treats and treats for them all - being diabetic not for me. He checked but no paracetamol - he had managed to pick up a couple of packs the other day, so hopefully I have enough if we have any need.
He said queues to go into Sainsburys were in place. 15 customers allowed in at once so when one out , one in. Luckily he only waited 5 mins.
He also had to pop to doctors for me to collect a letter for a hospital appointment for the 7th April dr made for me yesterday ( cancer fast-track but not sure if it will go ahead) and take a sample. The doctor had said I maybe should go to surgery yesterday but I explained the two young ones came into contact with the virus as uni at weekend and unless she felt she could do anything better I don't put her in any risk and she agreed nothing much she could do with the basic examination He had to ring the bell, explain through intercom then a protected receptionist came to the door, took the sample and gave him the letter. No phone call so I presume it is not a water infection which is what she was hoping symptoms were from but gave me the hospital appointment yesterday just to be safe and could have been cancelled if it was.
My Wholefoods delivery arrived today - was not expecting it for another week but the only thing I could not get when I did that order was dried veg so been checking every day and today they did have some but only in 10kg bags - £56 - ~yikes~ but I need it as I cannot peel fresh veg and cannot get others to do it s very often, usually use frozen but none to be had. So even though much more than I would normally buy ( usually about 1kg every 3 months) I went mad and ordered a bag, it will keep and if there are any shortages ahead I can make meals with my dried goods like lentils, barley, the dried veg and just use my dried herbs and seasonings to make them interesting with dried fruit to round out the meal.
Still having trouble with hubby as he finds it very hard to deal with change and cannot really believe the numbers who are ill or reported dying - it's just he sees the world as black and white and unchanging so when change happens it either takes him a long time to accept it or if he can he blocks it off and acts as if what has changed never existed ( he is on the spectrum but high functioning). I did get him to wear gloves for going out today, that to him was a big, big thing as he loathes the feel of them, the tactile change. After 40+ years I am used to his ways but admit this is causing stress between us as its chipping away at making him realise the danger is exhausting.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch
