Do you know one thing that I'm really liking during this whole thing, broadcasts from people's homes on tv 😂 I love seeing their decor and families.10

I know the cost of the box might seem a little steep, and might still be out of range to some, but nevertheless it provides a quick and simple solution to those who really shouldn't even be going to the shops, at all, if they have, or are, running out of the basics/staples.
I did notice after I posted though, that even those had ran out of availability for the day. Hopefully more options tomorrow.
Got some bread proving. Should have done twice the quantity for the tin size, but oh well. Fingers crossed it turns out edible! LolFebruary wins: Theatre tickets12 -
nannywindow said:HelloElaine 241 you must be near me. We are 7 miles from the epicenter of this and we were in the Gwent hospital oncology dept mid March. I'm so glad we didn't catch this then as we wouldn't probably survive, DH especially. We have been in the garden all this week so far cutting down trees, they were supposed to be branches, but we miscalculated their thickness. We now have hidden the wood behind several bushes as the tip is closed but we had already decided that we weren't going there anyway. We were also able to sort out our meds this morning with our pharmacy, although they and the surgery are swamped, so they are 3 days behind. There are no deliveries available but we hope that DD can collect ( she is self isolated at present ) if not it will be me. Not ideal, but needs must as DH must get his cancer meds. Thanks Euronorris for the tip on Asda slots I don't need one at present, but it is good to know that they are still available as it's still a definite no from Tes*o.
Today was a repeat of yesterday in that I fed the dogs, cat, and chickens and did some housework. I then spent the day in the veg patch weeding out yet another of my overgrown veg beds and planting onions and shallots. It seems the kids and OH are quite happy with the situation as they were busy doing farm stuff and seemed far from bored. Tbh we seem a bit isolated from the real world as life has gone on pretty much as normal here. I only realise how bad it is if I tune into the daily press conference or watch the news. I am very worried we will follow Italy or Spain and end up with the horrendous death toll we have seen there. I am planning only to leave the farm once a week from now on wearing gloves and a scarf round my face. I have a good anti viral hand spray that I bought when this virus initially came to our attention. I will only be going to the shop and the pharmacy and back as quickly as I can. With the new law passed giving the government extra powers we could all be on lock down in the coming weeks. I have a good stock of basics and if really desperate a gun to dispatch rabbits, squirrels, pigeon and pheasants!

(I am joking we won't really be eating them with potential disease risk.)

elaine241 and marauding thieves perhaps...... only joking, but it will deter them hopefully, especially if you have lambs about. I'm the other side of Pontypool, I could almost see you in person.

Well hubby called into Sainsburys as managed to buy fresh milk / Bread and bottled water with the two extra in the house now and one a strapping, so far healthy 6ft + 22-year-old ( the boyfriend) who has hollow legs those should have lasted well into next week has nearly gone ( do have long life and dried in my emergency stores) He said that apart from Toilet paper/wipes/Paracetomal/Hand Gel they did have at least some of most things and this was around 4.30pm and it was fairly empty people wise. My son popped over with a 24 pack of toilet paper last night ( he lives an hour away) and it felt so strange talking to him as he stood half way down the path but as he is an ambulance driver we did not want to take any chances - for his sake more than ours with both the kids ( at 20 and 22 to me they are kids) having possible exposure to the virus twice in a week. Son has plenty of TP in as his wife has a thing about alway having plenty so when they did shopping on Sunday afternoon they had bought the pack but once we had to bring the students home to ours he said we could have it.
I have volunteered if they can use me as I have a skill I would never have thought could be considered a skill and certainly not one that was useful - for years I have had to spend more and more time at home due to chronic health problems so have adapted to not going out for months at a time so hopefully, my experience can help others who suddenly find themselves stuck in for 12 weeks. I am lucky that all the things I need for my hobbies when I can do them - machine sewing is in boxes in my bedroom as I sew with the machine on an overbed table - I had a face to face assessment at home for change from DLA to PIP at beginning of Feb and not quite sure what the assessor thought, my bedroom looks like a storeroom but I have all I need in so if I wake up and have a good day I don't have to use energy going out to buy what I need or wait until it's delivered - by then I might not be up to sewing, so need it all here ready.
Basically I have just extended my prep lifestyle to include the sewing - I used to knit and crochet but had to give it up due to hand pain and was so lost that 18 months ago I took the plunge and bought a sewing machine in hope I could manage that and made it my goal to learn enough to make and wear a silk and lace dress for my son's wedding which was last August and I did it ( had a room at the hotel where the wedding was held so was able to keep popping off to rest so could stay the full day basically.
Granddaughter is already going through my patterns to see what I can make for her for the summer as she cannot go shopping and going through my fabric ( lots bought with her in mind).
So now just waiting to see if I can be useful while stuck in -be so nice as usually am no use to anyone.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

My tiny tiny village has posted on the community FB group that we have several people with suspected virus recovering at home, and one in hospital seriously ill. Will be paranoid as hell every time I go into the garden now10

We had a death in the road behind us, an older lady in her 80s taken suddenly ill a few days ago following a bout of loose tumminess and taken in by ambulance whose son had visited a couple of weeks beforehand with a cough and joking he had corvid-19! no information as yet as to the cause but we back on to houses in the road and are currently not using the back path to go out but going the long way round when we walk. Time will tell!
On the brighter side though the village has set up a community help group of people who are offering prescription collection and delivery, food collection and delivery and all sorts of other kinds of help to those of us who are in for the duration and this worse of times seems to be bringing the best of people to the front line which is totally fabulous!10 -
I live by the entrance to a farm. It's a family operation and they live in a cluster of properties next to the farm. It's lambing time and they have been going back and forth with quad bikes towing trailers with lambs. The grandad of the family is still working and I noticed yesterday he was coughing loudly as he drove past. It sounded just like the cough in one of those Italian video clips. I'm really worried for myself now as I had been to my gate to pick up a delivery and they reckon droplets can hang around in the air for a while. I have lung disease and am on immunosuppressants so if I get this, it won't be good. But also one of the family has a new baby and later he was stood by their door chatting to the mother - and coughing! Hopefully it's bronchitis or a common cold and I'm worrying over nothing.
