I saw those boxes being packed on the news - they even contain loo roll! Good thinking by someone in Morrisons there! There are even vegetarian boxes (but not yet vegan or GF).
We were hunting Canadian bread flour - all gone, but we'd never dream of taking GF flour - (a) other folk have Much Greater Need, (b) we do have ordinary flour suited to biscuits, pastry etc justabout & (c) having used some of the weirder flours, we know we need strong Canadian gluten to get (say) spelt to lift!14 -
I'm in the severe risk group and not supposed to go out. Fortunately someone is sharing their Tesco online deliveries with me. I ordered a fresh chicken - and got it! Does happy dance....

In fact will companies like Amazon be able to operate?Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1209

The shelves do not get re-stocked at any point, and our Waitrose has a notice apologising for it.Presumably it is bagged here. I wonder if they are out of it, or the bagging plant is broken?10 -
Definitely worth asking Mrs LW. Thanks for the advice. When she was told she could work from home, she moved back to her dad's. She seems OK, but you never know with this thing. (Her brother's with me and is high risk, so she's self-isolating there before coming round to my place). Even so, it's just the same here as it was where she was.I remember our chemist selling GF rolls waaaay back. They were a bit like Energen rolls IIRC. Don't suppose anyone remembers Energen?A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!

Does happy dance....There are fresh chickens in the Sainsb's near me; also some meat and fish, plenty of fresh fruit and veg. iIn fact there's a fair amount of stock in, but no flour of any sort. Well, there's those tiny little tubs of brown rice flour etc. Not sure what they're used for, as they seem too small to be useful to me.It's odd what's missing and what isn't... Loo roll, no - paper towels/tissues, some. Booze, variable - soft drinks and water, plenty. Paracetamol etc, enough - Tena products nope. I'm sure there's a PhD thesis in there somewhere!A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!

On Monday I finally remembered that our very local flour mill sells to the public! I used to buy huge sacks to share with a friend about 30 years ago. Rang and asked, they stopped selling that morning!! I am a total muppet. I stopped making bread in vast quantities when my 4 boys left home, the bag I used today had a best before date of Nov 2018. I would dearly love some wholemeal or rustic bread.Slightly bitter11

Online delivery slots are the reason I am so tired today.
Most seem to become available at midnight. We have one booked for the 7th April (earliest we get), and I wanted to get one for the 14th April (and weekly thereafter, so I can get regular top up shops). Duly set my alarm for midnight, got up, went straight to Morrisons site - crashed with the volume of traffic. Tesco glitchy and not working for the same reason, by the time it did, all slots gone. Iceland didn't seem to have any new slots up that I could tell. Sainsburys only allowing deliveries for elderly and very vulnerable (I'm asthmatic, but not severe, so I don't count). There are no local click and collect stores for sainsburys or tescos. Ocado had a queueing system, but they hadn't put new slots in yet. They went live at 6am instead I believe as site was closed 2am - 6am for maintenance. I did manage grab one with Asda! HURRAH! Would the payment process correctly? Would it ****! After about 45 minutes of going round in circles, I tried a different web browser on my phone and it worked instantly! Sigh. Very stressful. Get to do it all again in a week's time to try and get a slot for 21st April.
At least Milk & More are delivering well at the moment. I still get my tea!We are out of potatoes, but thankfully have rice and pasta, and will be out of sliced bread by Thurs/Fri, but we do have part baked rolls, and flour and yeast etc.
The weather is glorius. That's my positive. So washing hanging up in the garden as of lunchtime, and my seedlings have been sunbathing all day. CUrrently 16 degrees out there! Made a mini obstacle course for daughter to jump around. Basically just some garden sticks and her spacehopper, but she thought it was amazing. 3 year olds are great like that.
Stay safe everyone!

I’m a vegan and I’ve heard that others have been having similar issues to the lack of GF products, with people buying up the veggie sausages and soya milk etc. Fortunately I had a number of cartons of oat milk and bags of pulses in my cupboards anyway but we haven’t been able to get hazelnut or cashew milk since this all started. When I went to Mr T on Sunday they had plenty of chilled vegan alternatives (sausages, yoghurts etc) - they actually had plenty of most fresh items, but no beans of any sort. The only thing left in the beans/rice aisle was a few tins of quinoa - my neighbourhood isn’t the quinoa-eating demographic!
We’ve just used our lunch break to go to the allotment for our daily exercise and enjoy the sun. It was much less busy than at the weekend and they’d added sanitiser to the gate so you could sanitise before and after unlocking it. My boss said today that he was supportive of people working flexibly to be able to get their exercise during the daytime, so I might go down again at another lunchtime in the week.Original mortgage free date: November 2044Current mortgage free date: November 2038Chipping away...14
