Ventured out for my weekly shop and to buy some calf food. Went to Lidl reasonably early and was quite surprised at the amount available. I was expecting empty shelves and was pleasantly surprised. There was fresh veg and fruit available, tea bags/coffee, milk, fresh meat, butter , cheese etcetc. No flour or oils available in that particular shop I managed to stock up on 90% of what I needed in that shop. I had to go to a local shop adjacent to my pharmacy and managed to get sunflower and vegetable oil. After dropping off shopping to two friends who are isolating I popped into Sainsbury’s on the way to get animal feed. The shelves were a lot emptier than I expected, especially meat. I stocked up on Indian pickles and curry paste, cider and found two lonely bags of whole meal flour at the back of the shelf! There were very few tins and no bags of pasta or rice in sight! ( I have plenty in my pantry).Tomorrow I will be sorting through my seed packets , weeding out the veg beds and sowing my victory garden!

Went to the supermarket, much quieter since they bought in the 3 of any item rule. They had loo roll and kitchen towel for the first time in 2 weeks, and the tinned soup my neighbour wanted so i grabbed her some. I couldn't get supernoodles which DD wanted as she is having 2 wisdom teeth out tomorrow and needs soft food. I popped into my nearest mini-market corner shop and they had a big selection of stuff though ofc you pay more that they charge in the supermarkets. I managed to get a couple of packets but they were £1.09 each, i think i usually pay 80/90p?I got a fair bit of housework done and DH washed my car for me which i’m very pleased about
Our nearest shopping parade was heaving with people (we wont shop there anymore) so i hope they do bring in restrictions because this is just ridiculous. My dad and stepmum went out yet again today - to a shopping centre if all places! Later my dad knocked on the door and DH refused to open it. He just spoke to him through the door. DH says whats the point of us all staying at home and him losing thousands of £’s (he’s self employed) to be safe if my dad then just comes and infects us all. I couldn't agree more tbh!13 -
I drove to a nearby Sainsburys this morning at 9.15, still trying to get wholemeal bread flour. There were people queing the length of the supermarket to get in, outside in the cold with their trolleys. I got back in the car and came home again.

Quick update on my step mum who was in total denial and refusing to stop going out and even to wash hands when she came in!! Well I think suddenly the penny has dropped!! She has realised this is actually serious, she could be the cause of my fathers death and that hers would be shortly after his if either my sister or I got hold of her!! She has taken to spraying everything, only taking walks not visiting relatives and friends and is washing her hands like a professional!!
I am so relieved as I think if she hadn't fallen into line we could have irretrievably fallen out in the blazing row that was brewing. It is a relief to my sister and myself that they are one step closer to being safe.

Elaine I am glad to read your update - I was wondering if you or your dad had managed to get through to her!11

BTW, have you seen what's going on at Boots? They seem to have been shut all week here, except for prescriptions, and everyone has to stand outside, and wait for your name to be called. What do you do if you need ointment for something (embarassing)?

greenbee said:I called my GP this morning as my temperature still wasn't down after 3 weeks of symptoms. Was quite happy with a week's sick note as she felt rest would help. Then got a call back to say I need to go in at 4pm - side door, phone to let them know you're there, GP in full PPE, into the isolation room. Not looking forward to it. Plus I wanted a nap this afternoon and I need to stay awake now...
And thank yous for the kind and supportive words posted earlier, we face all kinds of moral choices in times like these and it’s so amazing that there are safe places like this, providing advice and reassurance.10 -
