Their situation could be ours by two weeks from now. Person saying this said that they hoped this prediction would be wrong - as do I. We don't seem to have a specific concentration of cases in one area yet, which is one big difference.
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?9 -

Just did an online shop at Sainsbobs - everything I wanted was available. It was the same at our little local Co-op - apart from the loo rolls which had been well and truly plundered. My aim is to have enough for one month hunkering down when this ramps up. Even now I'm minimising going out - I'm on immune supressants.

When I did my usual sparrowfart sweep of Morrison's today I noticed the shelves were brimming with bogrolls, kitchen towels, paracetamols and hand "sanitiser", albeit with a limit of two per punter on the latter.
Two hours later, however, a neighbour prevailed upon me to get her a few bits and bobs from Waitrose if I was passing it, which is what I normally do because all the bullsh1t with which they bombard the chattering classes offends my sensibility (who comes up with nonsense like "You can taste when eggs come from happy hens" on a big window poster, and why are they not stoned to death for their pains?). Sorry, where was I ... oh yes ... not a bogroll to be had in Waitrose, nor even a pack of kitchen towel! Don't know about hand "sanitiser" as in my haste to get out of the place I didn't look ...

The only place I have noticed shortages of anything other than hand sanitiser is Waitrose. Waitrose shoppers obviously do a superior class of panic (that IS sarcasm btw)It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!15

A pound to a penny says the reason why Waitrose sells out of "essentials" faster than inferior supermarkets is simply because they don't stock much of them. After all, why fill shelves with things like bogrolls when you can fill them with the high-margin stuff for which Waitrose is notorious renowned?OK, another factor might also be that the archetypal Waitrose punter is more affluent, has a greater sense of self-entitlement, and also has the enormous 4 x 4 in which to cart home the bulk purchase of bogroll ...We're all doomed10

We did a slight top up of the stores shop today as well as the usual fresh stuff for a usual week. I added a few things like cooking chorizo and some gammon. For me, any extras were things that will be useful when I move soon if not needed imminently. 3 or 4 extra tinned meals and peripherals were for a family friend without the means to stock up and then put a few of the same items in to the food bank point. I really hope that TPTB don't overlook those in such dire need in the event of a shut down.
We could get everything we needed during our trip to three supermarkets this morning, but some of the tins and cleaning products were a bit less plentiful than usual. Of course, there was no hand sanitiser to be had. I don't need it for now, thankfully!9 -
