I didn't need either so declined but if people aren't already spooked by the constant drip feed of the media things like that will send the fear levels sky high. The girl was only being kind as I'm older but as I said to her 'we've had long enough to get ready for this possible shut in and people have already had a lot of time in which to prepare stores and medications so if you've left it this late you're going to struggle aren't you?' she then asked me if I'd like cash back so I said 'only if it's buy one get one free', much giggling and then home for coffee.Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,89413

I've never prepped before but this is definitely teaching me a lesson I won't forget in a hurry 😟I'm going food shopping tomorrow to top up what I already have,I'm not stock piling this is my normal weekly shop,I'm hoping that because I'm a vegetarian there will still be plenty of stuff left that I normally eat because no one else likes it😀Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,89413

Our medium local Morries were out of Toilet roll, any form of antibac wipes, hand sanatizer, paracetamol, ibrophen, and hand soap according to my Mum who popped there last night. We are in the SW. Unfortunately we ventured to the area today where known cases were present to collect an item from a shop that we had ordered before everything kicked off, it was impossible with 2 small children touching everything and forced to use the toilet as heavily pregnant, we anti bac wiped hands in the car but it's in no way enough. We are looking at buying a car tomorrow its weighing up spending the money when who knows where this is heading to not having a vehicle that we can get our whole family in with 3 small children, my theory was better to all be together should we need to go anywhere. I need to top up everything despite doing a big shop just in time before shelves cleared we need to stay on top of it or all a bit pointless. I wondered onto the virus thread on house buying and economy section wish I hadn't it reads like the end of the world. I'm going to replenish our seeds and go and get some compost I think these might be handy.8

I'd like to thank all you lovely people and those from the Brexit prepping thread for all your advice and inspiration
I have an underlying health condition and live less than a mile from the Scotstoun sports campus (closed today due to the virus) so, although I feel anxious, it is a relief to know I can avoid the local shops for a while thanks to my prepping efforts. Hopefully people at work will stop treating the virus like a big joke now (insert rolling eye smiley wherever he is!)
Someone was asking about hand sanitiser...we have ordered rubbing alcohol (70%) and aloe vera gel to make some. 2 parts alcohol/1part gel.

I'm still having to travel for work, so I'm being very careful to avoid contact and making sure I wipe stuff down as I arrive at each hotel. I'm also washing my phone, something that I've become aware most people don't think about - but your phone is a germ-magnet, so you need to keep it clean (think about how many people take them into the toilet with them!). Most phones can be washed with soap and water on a cloth and dried with a towel or tissue.9 -
The supermarkets round here definitely have had more custom, but there was still plenty of standard stuff on the shelves. I popped into Tescos by MIL today, as needed catarrh pastilles (which had sold out - I bought an alternative), and they had loads of loo roll in there. A few options were running low, but they came out with another load to restock whilst I was there. No hand sanitizer, but they had soap. Heard several people say they didnt have paracetamol or ibuprofen, but they did, it was just on the bottom shelf (crazy to me as the littlest can reach) so not as visible. I did point it out to them.
I am still coughing. Held it in as long as I could in the shop, but had to cough at the till (with a tissue). Still, the cashier looked at me like I had the plague. I used hand sanitizer before getting my card out to pay, and she promptly used the hand sanitizer beside her after the transaction had finished. I don't blame her. But the looks I got in that shop. I can only imagine how bad it would be if I was also Chinese.
Saw an older couple walking towards the exit as I was leaving. The lady was carrying an oxygen tank behind her. I took a wide berth around her. I don't think I'm contagious anymore, but i dont want to risk it for someone so vulnerable already!
Anyway, all this to say that if you get stuck and are in SW, WSM and BOS supermarkets have stock in that seems to be getting regularly replenished. Appreciate it is probably a ridiculously long drive just to get bog roll though.
Oh, but MIL did say that FIL had been to Asda in BOS that morning and they had zero toilet paper or handwash. A friend said it was the same for WSM store. I think those stores are just more popular/get more footfall.February wins: Theatre tickets8 -
cod3 said:Thanks @greenbee I'll have another look at the ratios. We use soap and water mainly, but would like sanitiser for the likes of the car steering wheel and the phones (including work ones).
Your car steering wheel can be washed with soap and water, or wiped with neat alcohol on a cloth, or bleach wipes. Gel would make it sticky and more likely to grow bugs rather than less likely.10
