I post from the position of being a person who always has bought a couple of extra to needs items for the pantry if I had housekeeping money left over from the weekly shop. I have always seen this as 'putting in futures' and have done it all my adult life and always have a well stocked cupboard with food items, toiletries, cleaning stuffs and general household items to hand, it's part of our way of life so the concept of Panic Buying seems very alien to me. We value comfortable living over treats because 'we're worth it', our priorities are more bars of soap and porridge oats than fancy chocolates and wine. We live within our means, always have, and although it may sound as though we have dull lives we enjoy very much who and what we are. I feel sorry for people who are driven to panic shop because they haven't the slightly plodding mindset that is mine, it must be a very frightening thing to suddenly face the possibility of not having enough food etc. to see you by.

Instead of stocking up on crisps, I've bought a few packages of popcorn kernels. I pop them in the microwave (put some in a bowl with a lid, 1.5 minutes and you have a massive bowl full).12

Meanwhile, the chancellor is expected to scrap a subsidy on diesel used by the farming and construction sector in an effort to encourage a switch to greener alternative fuel vehicles and help the UK meet its climate change targets.
Rishi Sunak is set to announce in next week's budget that red diesel - so-called because it is marked with a dye - will no longer attract a lower fuel duty. It currently accounts for about 15% of total diesel sales in the UK and costs the Treasury about £2.4bn a year in revenue.
This is a bit of a worry for farmers, isn't it?

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?10 -

I rarely feel hungry and don’t keep track of time. My ADHD kept me up most of the night so I just went with it. I even sorted out my rubbish and recycling. I kept a stash of cardboard, plastic bottles and lids ‘just in case’ I reuse a lot of stuff for potting seeds so I’d be saving some anyway. If the worst came to the worst, rubbish collections could be affected. I don’t want to be left with full bins for any length of time!I bought a mixture of seeds from Amazon - some for sprouting, some for growing. That’s my treat to look forward to at the weekend!10

The joy of living alone is knowing you were the last person to touch the soap! Anyone who grew up in a large family who had to share the bath, might know what I’m talking about!I have cakes in every drawer! And how long does a bar last - flipping ages!Ohh I must add toothpaste to my list! And stock cubes or nice bouillon10

Hm, well doing a shop online for tomorrow with Tesco - not going mad so wonder how much will be available.
On the health note hubby has asthma and other health problems - so today he comes back from his twice weekly visits to mum to say he's not going down again (she does have plenty of other children living there and visiting) - and with only one confirmed case in Wales so far!
So now I shall have to follow suit - I won't mind when it gets worse but seems a bit premature now - but what can you say! Just feeling a bit down about the whole thing (and people thinking I'm nuts when I drop out of my usual clubs etc, and probably have to stop people coming in the house).
