Un, could I pick your brains on how to judge a brandy? Been given a small bottle & have no idea if it's the dashed good stuff, the tolerable or the frankly leave for cleaning & firelighting...

    :rotfl:

    Well,
    My criteria for wine are:
    1) How cheap is it ?
    2) Is there a picture of a castle on the label
    3) Do I like the typeface on the label

    Brandy is easier:
    1) How big is the bottle
    2) How cheap is it

Just try it - what brand is it BTW
I'm on Waitrose own brand at he mo'

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

Ingestion pretty much the only reliable tool then? Seems reasonable.

"Courvoisier vs" which could be cor-blimey-dear, very small for all I know.
Google says "Courvoisier V.S. (Very Special) Cognac is a blend of several crus aged between three and seven years (four to eight for Russia), composed principally of Fins Bois with a balancing hand of Petite Champagne." which I suspect translates to not as bad a head as the cheap stuff but still not quite the "Very Superior Old Pale" (which may describe the lucky winner).

I await further advice/opinion before deciding what to do, but I think I'm fairly sure the Scout Raffle is not its ultimate destination. (The parents give you the "I'm going to have to clear up after this...." look when the triumphant 7 year old bounces around waving it...)

This it ? If you want to get down with the kids, then Busta Rhymes seems to like it, though maybe he's considered a bit 'boomer' these days

That's the one, albeit mine's smaller.

Will have to Google Busta Rhymes, but I'm not sure I aim to be down with the kids. Not least as they're all taller than me. & also I might Have To Share...

Someone replied, and I have been able to download an official list of charge points, filter them with Excel, then turn them into a file that will fit on my car's memory card.

It's a bit of a faff to do, but I think I may have managed it. I swapped cars in my garage some miles away today, so it will be a while before I know for sure.

Is it in place & possibly working?
Or are you focused on keeping heating working? (Ah storage heaters - nostalgia for holidays where they were the heat [apart from the open fire, hot water bottles & hot food & drink] and ours used to be maximum heat at about 6pm so wet coats got dried & we'd go to bed warm but draping clothing for a warm morning - not so effective.)

Ah, no. This has been an even bigger faff than I thought it would be. I think I have now downloaded four different POI editor programs, but my Carminat system won't read the files produced.

Storage heaters are working fine at the moment, but I do have a gas boiler to supplement them. (More prepping for when SHTF.) :)

Is it worth emailing the manufacturer? As if enough grumbles get to Renault (guessing) they may be able to have a word with Tomtom? As the risk of running out of juice/fizz/whatever-that-de-Lorean-ran-on is a nasty one...
  • Just seen we've a local outbreak of bird flu in Norfolk & Suffolk.
Suspect the Matthews empire is checking its hygiene protocols...

Surprise, surprise, I got it working today! :)

I think it may be the new operating system I uploaded to my memory card yesterday. It was not apparent that this was needed, but I was clicking everything on the Tomtom website to see what worked.

I also got a POI file from a German EV website: https://www.goingelectric.de/forum/

I don't think this has all UK chargers on it, but it's a start.
  • Not too happy about the bird flu; my preps for that need updating in the light that we now have more birds, as all the oldies stopped laying at once and the "new girls" haven't come into lay yet. In previous years I'd have popped the bantams into the end third of the run, which is 1cm weldmesh with a tarp roof, so can be "bio-secure" very easily, and blocked that end off from the large birds, but now there are 7 big girls, that would be somewhat crowded. (Still a lot more space than they'd have on most farms, though!)

I'd better resurrect the little polytunnel & check it over, just in case I do need to Take Precautions; the bantams were very comfortable in there last time, but OH was devastated by the damage to his lawn!
