I make it most days, just one part oats to two parts milk, left in the fridge overnight.
I often eat it cold, but easy enough to chuck in a pan or the microwave to heat it up.
Don't know how old the children are, but also might make it easier as then they can just chuck a few spoonfuls in a bowl when their ready rather than having to wait for it.4 -
We’re emptying late mother-in-law’s house at the moment and husband found a big tin of household candles. She probably bought them in the seventies during the frequent power cuts. He was going to throw them out until I rescued them to add to my mum’s candle stash - also from the 70s. Along with all my scented candles we won’t be in the dark this winter at least.15

I did mention 3 day weeks, winters of discontent and the breakdown of civilisation. He’s older than me and can remember more of the 70s so should know better.11

Well went out today to see if there were any blackberries left on the bushes and it seemed no one has been picking them.
I went out with a little plastic takeaway tub and in the space of a few meters it was overflowing so going to go back out tomorrow with the kids and pick some more.
Hoping to get a few tubs frozen in the freezer to add to things like crumbles etc and then a good few jars of jam for the cupboards so it can be mixed in with things like rice pudding and porridge in the winter as well as being on toast etc. Also nice added to a gravy too.Time to find me again12 -

Went blackberry picking today at a golf course (public footpaths and woods along the edge) a few miles from home. Had spotted them a few weeks back but not many were ripe then.
picked two tubs of them… wished I was taller or had brought a walking stick to get the ones just out of reach….. Found a plum tree and three apple trees so picked some apples too for blackberry and apple crumble, but the 3-4 mile walk home carrying it all prevented me from being greedy. Only picked a few plums as they weren’t ripe yet.
then on the walk home found a good greengrocer with English cherries and greengages so thought it would be rude not to!
dropped off half my load to mum.
haven’t yet visited our community orchard but am planning to…. Heard there’s damsons there too.
There’s also closer places with more blackberries so will get more soon.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?10 -
I paid £16 or £17 for the big tin on amazz a few months back and yesterday it was £24.99.
