Thrifty - I was in eastern France one year and loved the St Nicolaus celebrations. I figured that spending early dec in eastern France, mid-late dec in England and new year and Epiphany in Spain would gather sooo much celebration into one calendar month!

XSpender - if dh borrowed the money for his weight-loss plan (I think I remember yhat correctly), then I am truly miffed with him at you having to now deal with the shortfall. You have hugs from me.

Speky - wow! to your sugar cravings! And well done on wanting and nsd more than you wanted sugar.

Thanks Apple. DH always overspends his personal allowance and I always have to cover it from elsewhere in the budget. He is too far removed from the budgeting as I deal with it all so I don't think that helps.

He did so well on the plan earlier in the year but used the refund for extra classes which he then didn't attend but has really struggled with it this time around. The goal is 20lb and he is hoping to achieve 15lb by a week tomorrow. He lost 22lb last time around (March) and put half a stone of it back on.

• Evening all :hello:
I confess to not feeling the love today at all. I am tired because I worked late last night and got no down time at all. Plus work is more than a bit stressful at the moment, and we're not close enough to the end of term for me to see the end in sight just yet. There is someone I work with who has been particularly stressed out recently and today my head of department said he thought that the negative attitude was starting to influence me :o Oh. So I need to concentrate on that bit of the challenge. I can't help the fact that I work with her but I can stop myself from only listening to her...
I also destroyed my nsd by deciding I had to get chocolate on the way home from school. Naughty, and exhausted. :o
Plans for the evening = another early night. I have awful insomnia again at the moment so I need to sleep as and when I can.
Today I am grateful for:
11 more school get ups.
A snowman biscuit that ds made for me at school
Having friends I can talk to
Not quite being overdrawn yet.

Hello Turtles

Today I am grateful for:
1) not being the person getting made redundant but feeling terribly sad for the one who is :(
2) Christmas fun with DS putting up the hall tree and attempting to make decorations (need different glue to complete)
3) having a cold bottle of GF beer in the fridge ready to drink
4) finally finding out from school when DS play is (3 working days notice!!!!!) and hopefully being able to get to see most of it before I have to catch a train for work

Didn't get a NSD today as DH bought some lunch but stuck to his diet plan. DH is at the gym so I'm going to have some dinner (will have had 3 meals today) and read my book while quaffing my cold beer and keeping off tech. I might light a couple of candles too.

• COUNT UP TO 12 - No spending yesterday or today so that's me on 4/12.

ORGANISE YOUR OUTGOINGS - I will re-do this when I get back from holiday.

TREAT YOURSELF WELL - Will definitely be treating myself on holiday.

REFRAIN FROM BROWSING YOUR PHONE - Very good with this one.

OWN RULE - Forget the past, live for the moment and look forward to the future.

SLOW LIVING MONTH - Will give this some thought.

GRATITUDES - Will record these on the OS Pleasures thread.

NO TAKEAWAYS AND COFFEE SHOPS - None today or yesterday.

BE AN OPTOMIST - Hopefully, some of my family are very negative and sometime they do pull me down.

CANDLES - May not achieve this. I like candles but after a while they really irritate me.

SWITCH OFF TECH AN HOUR BEFORE GOING TO SLEEP - Yes

READ FICTION - Reading a good book by David Baldacci.

EXERCISE - Housework today was good exercise.

WHAT'S THE POINT OF BEING GROWN UP - Love this one.

OUTINGS - I only have one Christmas lunch booked and a couple of meets for coffee - can't really cancel any of these. Oh and I'm going to New York on Saturday till Thursday - definitely not cancelling this

EXTERMINATE, ONE BAD HABIT FROM YOUR LIFE - Still thinking on this one.

REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE BLESSED - I have a large bag of clothing etc to take to cs - I was going to drop this off today and forgot to take it with me. Not had time to do this yet.

Lazy evening watching tv now xx

Accidently!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Debt-free date. Tomorrow! I'm a little excited. :D Can't wait to ring mum and tell her the moneys in her account.
Organise your outgoings. Bought present for granma, just dad to organise, but I'm stumped. I'll need to pay for postage when parcels are ready, and I need to send my friend a donation for his NYD charity dip.

Count up to [STRIKE]15. Fifteen[/STRIKE] 20 No Spend Days. 4/20 - Present bought for Granma. She likes poppies, and I found a lovely poppy pashmina scarf.
Treat yourself well. Rest day from the gym today, although I was running around the house cleaning.
One thousand days. Intriguing :D
Refrain from browsing your phone I have deleted my meme app. My friend came round earlier and I found my phone was in my hand and I had opened the app without even thinking about it! How rude!
What kind of month do you want for yourself? Rest day from the gym and running today. Made my candles last night, and today did a little of my crafty presents. Told bf to get me stuffed dates from Aldi today, he failed me.
Here’s a space for your own rule. Cleaning! House has been cleaned thoroughly today. My vacuum died on me. I don't know if its just the fuse or it's given up the ghost. I'll get bf to investigate tomorrow.
Outings. No outings planned.
Slow living this month. Didn't get round to wrapping anything today. Will make sure it's done over the weekend.
Omm. Take care of your mental health. I always enjoy cleaning, I pop my headphones on and belt out some tunes as I go. So that was theraputic. Then when my friend came round we played some Gears of War. Blasting baddies away is very relaxing :D

No entry to any sales. Shops avoided.

Candles & tech. Advent candle lit. War & Peace waiting for me in a bit.

Hello Turtles

Some success today but not loads :p

Got up early and read for 20 mins before work - love this :D. I think it'll continue beyond December.

Organised the house. Laundry done, grocery shopping done (under budget :j) Christmas decs up.

Went spinning and had a lovely, long, hot shower at the gym afterwards.

Today was rent day so cb cc paid off and accountant's bill paid, budgets reviewed and in tact. Also bought some stocking bits so a spendy day but I stuck to the list so it was at least planned and thrifty:)

Took breakfast ,coffee and lunch to work. Batch cooked veggie bake from the freezer for dinner.

Avoided two of my worst drainers all day :j

Things I'm grateful for are healthy batch cooked food from the freezer when you're cold, wet and tired, a cosy, warm house that's all twinkly and ready for Christmas, being able to talk frankly with my lovely sister about something emotional challenging and for knowing that I'm loved because it just feels so nice :)

Keep dodging the downpours - both literal and figurative:):)

PP xx

Good evening fellow turtles!

Just a quick check in tonight as I am still full of colds. Today had been a super busy and heavy day at work. We are launching a major project and it is very emotionally draining. I am not really in the right head space for my uni work so that will just have to wait.

4 things I am grateful for:

1 yummy chicken casserole that OH prepared for dinner which was ready when I got home from work at 6pm
2. Lots of left over chicken casserole enough for tomorrow’s lunch
3. A couple of hour’s bonding session with my 2 BFF. Our trio will be singing in church this Saturday.
4. I bagged my 4th NSD and my 4th packed lunch (no take aways, no ready made sandwiches , no staff canteen lunches )
