  • Yes, have booked the apt for Saturday via the website and specified it's for a battery- sounds like they'll send me away and I'll be bloody annoyed if so!

  • They will in theory but beware I drove 30 miles to my nearest apple shop after checking with them first . I was then told they would not replace the battery at all unless I paid £150 to have the iphone touch repaired. I simply don't need this function but they would not just replace the battery so beware of hidden costs
  • So just back from the apple shop. Hopefully an experience never to be repeated. You have to 'check in' when you arrive, took 20 minutes to be seen, only to be told it would take three hours to repair. On my return 3 hours later, was told they were running late and had to wait in the noisy busy apple store 45 minutes more. I think I'd rather have dealt with the slow battery!

so you did not book a slot before hand and just walked straight in off the street?

  • Nope, I booked a slot 6 days earlier. I'd have understood otherwise!

Very similar to what happened with DW. She was there at 6:30 pm, store closing at 7 and they sold her an upgrade to back up to iCloud before doing the battery swap. It barely began to upload her 64GB of pics etc before the store closed, had to make a 2nd visit.

I wish Apple just licensed 3rd parties to supply and fit genuine Apple batteries (does not even need to be free).

A very good experience for me today! It's a good idea to book your appointment online at a specific store beforehand as I did, as this precludes unnecessary waiting-time and potential irritation and dissatisfaction. Mine was booked last week. I walked in today, and all the staff I encountered were polite and eager to please. Battery was changed for £25, with a free general 'MOT' and trouble-shooting thrown in for good measure prior to that too. iPhone with a new battery was collectable within the hour. Was also advised of free in-store 'Today at Apple' technology education classes - something some might like to investigate further, and of their new 'Price Match' scheme. All-in-all the Customer Service was First-Class, something I found very palpable and refreshing, especially since I've experienced Customer Service at it's worst. Full Marks to Apple today!

Which model of iPhone? Sounds like you got good treatment, with my iPhone 5s I was given the runaround despite a pre booked appointment at store. As a result I'm still on the old battery that sometimes shuts down at 40%. Maybe when I'm using Bluetooth. Then again it could be an undisclosed design limitation or firmware fault.

Also had an excellent experience with an iphone 6. All in all, in and out within 1.5 hours. Lol, they agreed to replace the battery, then the phone broke as they handled it.Was given a brand new one. Hard to find fault with the service i experienced.
