moggins wrote:All my kids love to cook, especially my son. I just wish I had a bigger kitchen so I could have them all in there with me, unfortunately it's too small to swing a cat, let alone a sharp knife around a small child.
This made me smile!
My requirements when I was househunting was the size of the kitchen! I didn't care how big the other rooms are - I just wanted a big kitchen!
I did look round a few new builds, but the kitchens were so small I didn't want to live there. One was so tiny, it only had space for a fridge, or a fridge freezer if you took the top cupboard out. I also noticed many don't have a dining room anymore. One saleslady did say nobody eats at dining tables these days so you don't need a dining room
I bought this house as it's got a decent sized kitchen, plus it's got a long bench in the utility room that I use as an overflow space if I'm really busyHere I go again on my own....0 -
Well my chocolate mint bars are ready to eat and they are GORGE!!
Makes 12 and there's only two of us in the house, so they should last until about...8 o'clock. The BF just inhaled two without stopping for breath.0 -

Oh!!! I LOVE going around foreign supermarkets - I get quite excited just seeing things like Corn Flakes written in foreign languages!!!!
I love baking cakes too (and eating them as well). Trouble is, now that the kids have left home I daren't make too many 'cos I eat them just for the sake of it. I do make lots off cakes to take to work though - they think I'm a bit odd as they would only ever buy ready made cakes.0 -
Hi does anyone know how to make Walnut cake (not sure if it's coffee and walnut though).
It's a sandwich one with the butter cream filling , a little bit of icing on the top and a few halved walnuts. They sell it at the local fayre on one of the homemade stalls and it's scrummy. But i'm lucky to get one as they have always sold out when i get there..
Please can you pass on recipie and cooking instructions to me.
Thanks in advance.0 -
queenie...mash potato?
going back to those stained glass window biscuits, does it matter what type of sweets you use (do they have to be boiled), do you mix up the colours or leave them as one, and am i right in thinking that you dont cut the hole right the way through the biscuit?know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Is it Mayonnaise Queenie? I once saw a recipe for mayonnaise and chocolate cake!
I've just made an edible batch of flapjacks. I used to make these once a week but since getting the new cooker have managed to overcook them twice. Have now turned down the thermostat as this oven is obviously hotter than the last one!
I have always made our cakes and cookies. When I was a teenager and still at home Mum used to let me take over in the kitchen on a Sunday afternoon and do all the baking for Sunday tea. I was taught to cook at about the same time as I learnt to read. What a shame people don't have the time for it now.
