Lucie wrote:Thanks for the yoghurt cake recipe CQ - you always seem to get it in Ski chalets, so it will remind me of going skiing. Is a 150ml tub a bog standard "normal sized" yoghurt tub?
It's quite hard to actually find 150ml yoghurt pots these days, but they're the old-fashioned type ones that we used to have before all these faffy stuck-together pots appeared
Supermarket own brands, the value type I think, are still 150ml otherwise just find something of similar size lying around the kitchen, which is what I do as I tend to buy the huge 500ml tubs of plain yoghurt these days. I did have a pot saved just for this job but I think it got split and thrown out "An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Thanks Lucie that's answered my questions! I always thought flaky and puff were different but with everyone saying layer the butter for puff pastry I thought I was wrong.
I wasn't *tee hee* Layering the butter is flaky, layering the pastry is puff :eek:Mink0 -

When dd was about 9 the school asked for the usual cake/biscuit donations and I sent in 'stained glass' biscuits, fairy cakes and a gingerbread hansel & gretel house! (I had just found the recipe for gingerbread and kept making the houses!).
School decided it was too good (oh my!) to go on the cake stall and put it into the raffle instead.
DD got first ticket out in raffle and chose - yes, the b***dy house! I was sick of gingerbread by this time so was not a happy bunny! :rotfl:
what are 'stained glass' biscuits....??!!
this made me laugh..... :rotfl:0 -

Basically a good biscuit recipe (not cookie) with a shape cut in them. The shape is then filled with crushed bits of boiled sweet and cooked as normal. The sweet melts into the hole leaving a stained glass effect.Mink0 -

It's funny the things we remember isn't it
I did have a passion for cooking even back then, and often spent Sunday afternoons in the kitchen baking for the family, even as young as about 8 I think. It all went to pot when I found boys and horses though and I was never at home at all then :rotfl:"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

My daughter once had to make a pudding in Home Economics( or whatever it's called now) from a packet of ginger nuts mixed with a packet of Angel Delight! I complained at the next Parents Evening.Needless to say I did not encourage either of my daughters to take the subject for GCSE
I love to bake but don't do as much now since there's only two of us but if anyone asks for a cake for a coffee morning etc I'm only too happy to help
"Shop bought" cakes never seem to taste as good and I really dislike the pastry on "shop bought" mince pies.0 -
nah it must be vinegar.....0
