OS Thursday 8th November 2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 8th November. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Hi Guys!

Havent started the daily in a long time!

Had a bad night sleeping so came downstairs. Have an assessment with my OT today, so hopefully she will have some new gadgets to help us out.

DW & WM will both be going on soon. Today we change bedding so thats at least 1.5 washes:rolleyes: Cleaners also come today:D

Chickens are doing well but havent laid yet. They all have funny characters and they are fun to watch and quite soothing and friendly.

DD doing well at school which Im pleased about.

Hugs to all.

Morning Pen-Pin and all who follow/cross.

Managed 6 am which is not bad, then couldn't handle the snoring once I had woke up, so I'm down on here too.

Good Luck with the OT P-P. For 3 in a household I am sure your DW + WM goes on far more than mine ever did. Glad your DD is doing well at school, has she any career/education aspirations yet?

Scan results and Consultant visit this morning, so hopefully they can shed some light on what is wrong. If I walk one way my knee hurts, so I walk so my knee doesn't hurt and my foot hurts!!   Must sort out some washing as we set off for the UK on Monday.

    (((hugs))) to all

Morning PENPIN and DONNY-GAL - and all who follow.

PENPIN - Good luck with the OT today and I really hope you sleep better tonight.

DONNY-GAL - Good luck with the scan results - hope the packing goes well. I bet you can't believe it's almost time to come home!

Quick post from me because I have to get his lordship up for work in a minute. I had a better night's sleep last night. My DH snores for England and Europe but I definitely notice a difference when he wears the Breathe Right snoring strips. Luckily, the snoring doesn't bother me but he holds his breath a lot in his sleep so that's why I got the strips. He just snores more gently now and doesn't stop breathing in the middle of the night. If anyone buys the strips, they are much much cheaper on eBay than in any of the chemist shops.

Well, I'd better go and put the kettle on and get the sandwiches made for his packed lunch so, see you all later. (((hugs))) to all in need.

Hope your scan results are fine.
DD wants to work with animals and is looking into Zoology degrees:eek:    ...she turns 13 next month and her grades are coming back good from school. She has already decided to stay on in 6th form and do A-levels.

We have already decided that once she leaves school, we would like to move away (from OH's family) and we like Norfolk or Cornwall:confused:

I am going to ask the OT about respite today so that OH can get a rest and DD and see if there are any day care centres:rolleyes:

    Chin up.

So so right mioliere, it is now over 4 months since DH and I retired, and it has flown, and we haven't found any spare time yet! No one thought we would take to it, particularly me, a real workaholic (sp?), but have no desire to go back!

Luckily DH's snoring doesn't bother me while I am asleep I can sleep through anything, and often do! "Did you hear the storm last night?" "What storm?" would be my reply. It is just once I wake up I find it hard to go back again if I had 6 or more hours sleep, and then I annoys me.

Morning. Cornwall is great, but the houses are getting very expensive. A recent survey showed that our housing average was the most expensive compared to income in the country. It also has the biggest increase in cost of housing. My house was £40,000 in 1998, today 275,000. I could never buy it again!
Water rates are the highest in the country too, but it's not a bad place to live....

All is well here today. Bit cold but dry. Plenty to do at work. but have a long weekend off and some entertaining to do.. OH got her first part of her bursary for her PGCE so she is happy to have some cash. She also got her free Dell laptop, which is great. All new and shiny, WIFI and stuff on it incl office 2007. I sat in the lounge last night and surfed the internet in front of the fire to see how it worked.... great piece of kit.

Well folks have a nice day

Hope your OT visit goes well PP & your consultans visit goes well DG.

I finally managed to recover my email last night & then told lodger to leave the bloody PC alone, or I'll ban her from it.

It seems she has bad financial problems, she didn't work out the dollar/pound rate out properly & is now struggling, she sends money home to her family & thought she was going to be able to learn to drive/buy a car/rent a flat/buy a laptop etc. As she is on supply she doesn't get paid for her holidays & she assumed she'd be able to get a local job in a shop or something similar for the holidays, I did explain that it wasn't easy & that I usually only managed to work during the long summer holidays. She is now realising I was right as she can't get a job for the christmas holidays as they just aren't long enough. She has only been able to give me half her rent this month, despite the fact that I let her off half term week & I've offered to waive the rent for the Christmas hols if she's going away (anything for a bit of peace). I have also refused to let her hold Herbal life business meetings in my house, unfortunately she spent a lot of money on stock, before she asked me.

Granny Broon, you asked about the scarf pattern, it consists of buying 2 balls of eyelash wool, or similar, cast on 20 stitches, knit til you run out of wool, cast off, lol.

I hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

  • Gooood morning everyone!

First day of my 5-day weekend, and I'm feeling really good about that. Lots of plans, and things to do :j

Have a busy housework day to day (as someone so rightly pointed out yesterday - I lurrrve doing housework :p:p:p ). Will be baking some bread rolls for DD's pack-ups, a cake, and freezing more apples.

The Small Penguins' school is involved with Enterprise Week. It's DS's year's turn to raise money today. His form are doing apple bobbing, so need to collect some of the small apples from the garden for that.

DS has been invited to join the Science and Engineering club at school, so that's until 5pm, so will get some time with DD. She has her first GCSE exam on Monday   so she needs lots of TLC.

Have a great day, Penny. x

very windy here, will do tea in a mo as power may go off later, hope it doesnt!

keeping ds2 off today as it seems he might have had an allergic reaction yesterday at tea, his right eye was red and puffy, so put him to bed after tea last night and he looks a lot better today, but still a bit puffy, he is chesty too with his asthma, so will see how he is today.

lo been up since 5 so im shattered.

donny-gal - hope the scan results are fine, hugs
