The Marcus account is still the easiest to operate that I have found in a large number of easy access accounts that I have had.

I opened my account with KR on Saturday 24 Nov and made my an initial’ ‘faster payment’ deposit (£1000) at 08.01am last Monday morning from my linked account.

I received a confirmation email and an SMS text from KR on Monday afternoon (both timed at 2.01pm) to say that my initial deposit had been applied to my account. I received the letter confirming my User I.D. by post on Friday which allows full online access to the account.

Any Bank ‘faster payment’ to Kent Reliance made on a bank non-working day i.e. Saturday, will only appear in the account the next bank working day; .i.e Monday,...or later if it’s a Bank holiday/Xmas etc!

I’ve had accounts with Kent Reliance before and I think any cash transferred at weekends or bank holidays will sit with KR’s clearing Bank (NatWest) until it they eventually transfer it to KR.

I could be wrong on this point but I think(??) you only start receiving interest on any cash transferred to KR from the date KR actually receive it;...not from the date you transfer it from your own bank.

Conversely, with ‘faster payment’ transfers to Marcus or Bank of Cyprus et al, the transfers appear within minutes,...regardless of whether it’s a Bank working day or not.

Once again, I could be wrong, but I think it’s something to do with Marcus/BoC etc being ‘clearing’ banks,...whereas Kent Reliance isn’t;...something like that anyway.
