Kent Reliance BS - 1.5% EASY ACCESS

  • :A I have a graveyard of closed accounts with Tesco and Virgin Money due to their rate tweaks.

    They are both at 1.45% now, so I'm not sure I want the hassle of adding Kent Reliance to my magic money tree for an extra 0.05%
    I’ve opened a KR account this morning and I took the opportunity to do a touch of house-keeping on my Bank account ‘payee’ list. I was amazed by number of defunct accounts I deleted;

    ...and it’s not that long since the last time I did it.

    on the plus side however you can pull money in using a debit card.

    what exactly do you mean by this please?

    with reference to the accessibility of the account, it sounds as though the GSachs account is an easier way to bag 1.5% on our cash. i'm not saving with them yet, but in early Jan i'll be looking for the best home for Cash on <12m terms.

    just that the kentreliance account (and the postoffice savings a/c too i think) can be funded by pulling money in using any debit card, whilst the marcus a/c i seem to recall you can only fund by pushing money in via the linked bank account.

    ok its not a great problem setting up the linked account but there is always that nervous first time hoping you've set up all the details correctly which is why perhaps its best to send in say £1 as a test run. sadly i've forgotten now if marcus lets you do that!! but some savings account dont, and insist you send in say a minimum of £xxxx the first time around.

    anyway, being able to use a debit card makes me feel a bit happier at least!

    with you, thank you for clarifying.

    fwiw i'm using POBOS accounts, and i only move money between them/pull money in from their respective Linked savings accounts. i didn't know we could load from a debit card - but i don't really need to anyway.

    What exactly is a POBOS account (Google hasn't helped with this acronym!)?

    Post Office Bank Online Saver?
    I must admit that it did cross my mind that the 'PO' could be Post Office but as there's no such thing as "Post Office Bank" I thought it must be something else - perhaps it's just a made-up one....

    I agree its a minor benefit over Marcus being able to transfer in from any debit card. Can you transfer out to multiple accounts? Marcus only allows one.

    How do the online systems compare in usability? Marcus is simple to use but featureless, and doesn't have an App so you cant easily add/withdraw on a phone, does Kent have an App ?
