many thanks for quick response was thinking international drive as an option but obviously was not sure many thanks so how do i make this as cheap as possible then regarding tickets, is a taxi cheaper than a transfer? is it best to wait to the last minute as i am not to fussed on a particular hotel omgthere are so many questions:rotfl:

all have been searching for orlando holidays for aug 2009 (i know but i like to be prepared) for 2 adults and 2 kids age 16/6 we do not drive so will be relying on public transport, buses, cabs or even shuttle buses we are pretty flexible as to where we want to stay (obviously not to far from parks etc basically its all down to money and costs in transport thrown in. any help would really be appreciated thanks.
If you are mainly going to use the Disney parks then I'd go for Lake Beuna Vista area as you will get free courtesy bus to the parks and for Universal and/or Seaworld you can pick up a taxi. LBV have plenty of hotels, restaurants and shopping within walking distance but less "Blackpool style" than International Drive.0 -

We stayed at the Comfort Inn on I-Drive 3 years ago as we didn't want to drive and they did free transport to Disney and Universal (and free breakfast). It was basic but ok and as OH says, you don't go on holiday to stay in your hotel room.
We're going back next August and have booked a Disney hotel as it was only £200 more expensive over the three weeks and we figure it's a lot less travelling time to and from the Disney parks. Also as we'll have a toddler this time we won't be tied to having to come and go when hotel transport is on, we can just go to a park for a morning or evening if we want and if we're in the parks and the little one is tired, one of us can take him back to the hotle and the other can stay with our older two.0 -

We have just booked our honeymooon for 2009. We would loved to have stayed in an expensive hotel but that would have been a wate of money.
We are staying at the fairfield inn by marriott near international drive. (about a 2min walk to idrive.)

That is trip advisor with all the hotels in Orlando and reviews by people that have stayed, so its honest. That is one of the reasons we booked the fairfield it came out as number 1 in Orlando!
As for transport ther is something called the I trolly that runs up and down I drive.
http://www.iridetrolley.com/
It is about $1 for a trip but you can buy passes which work out cheaper. There is also a map showing where the i trolly goes and to which parks.
As for park tickets this seems to be one of the best places I have found so far.

They are offering good deals on 2009 tickets. Pay 20% now and they promise the price wont go up due to currency changes (pound being good against the dollar at the moment) but if the price goes down you will get the cheaper price.
They also do excursions. I am looking at the airboat tour and they will even do one with transport to the location. (we wont be having a car either)
Hope that is of some help!JeremyMarried 9th May 20090 -
Hello
have finally managed to pick up decent priced flights :j :j :j so now we need an apartment does anyone have any recomended sites to try for an apartment usually use golden florida (who still appear the cheapest) but am worried that I'm missing some as when you google you get inundated and it takes ages to sort the good from the bad. Any help is much appreciated stayed at Windsor Hills last time and would appreciate something in that area again .

No, we would need to buy tickets separately unfortunately!
We booked through MyTravel (as we did 3 years ago). They seem to have been taken over by Thomas Cook though and when I tried by putting mytravel into Google it took me to a MyTravel / Thomas Cook site where the price was more expensive. I went via Quidco which took me to the old-style website and the prices were reasonable I thought. Also got £175 tracking in Quidco - fingers crossed it pays out!0
