  • Looking for some advice on a very quick question...

Should we get 5 Park Orlando Flex tickets here or is it cheaper over there?

I can get tickets here for £111.60 is this the best in going to get?
    :)
  • Ok another quicky!! :)

Car hire- 7 persons plus luggage for about 4 days!

Was looking to just walk into dollar car rental on international drive and get something suitable? Good idea? Bad idea? Was trying to call them but can never get some1 to speak to...

We bought our tickets from the UK before we went, if you go onto www.thedibb they have links to sites for tickets and you can do a price comparison. Also, if I remember correctly, I think the 5 park flex ticket doesn't cover any of the Disney parks, so if you want to go to them, you will need to buy another ticket to cover them.

As for car hire, check www.uscarhire they have some good rates and we have just booked our car from them. You could book at the airport, but as you want a 7 seater, I would book in advance to make sure you get one.

  • Recently picked up a car at Orlando from Budget and gad an hours wait. There were other people waiting by the side of the desk because their cars weren't ready. Other desks had longer queues. I would go for Hertz in future. The bus stop is closer than the car hire desks so you don't have so far to trundle the luggage once you have cleared US customs. I have used them before - they are off site but it takes 5 minutes on their courtesy bus and they always have a raft of cars ready to go.

A 5 day flex ticket was available for $242 inc tax from one of the many (dodgy?) ticket outlets on the 192, or $239 +tax from Universal themselves, so £111 from here seems the best bet, just make sure they are valid for when you go as some of the prices quoted are only valid this year. There is also a new Seaworld water park opening next spring and you would need a flex ticket plus, about £20 more to include this.

As for car hire try HERE, they seem to have a depot on I drive, US carhire.co.uk may be cheaper but seem to cater mostly for airport pick ups. For 4 days it would be better to choose the option that includes a tank of petrol, this is charged per day but works out at only £11-£20 total for 4 days, depending on the car type, which is cheap for a tank of petrol even at US prices ($2:50 a gallon). Would you need a car for all your luggage if you are just visiting parks? 7 or 8 seater vans will have minimum luggage space but if you are not going to or from the Airport you may not need much luggage space.
  • I know this is an old thread, but thought that someone might find the information useful.

On our most recent visit, in May '07, my wife and friend visited the Spa in Celebration.

The Spa is actually located in the hospital, which is more like a 5 star hotel (there is even valet parking). The location is well signposted, just off the main Highway 192, at the watertower.

They offer a wide variety of treatments, our friend was pregnant at the time, and they were able to customise a few treatments for her. Not the cheapest it has to be said, but for a special treat, well worth the visit.

  • Cheers for the advice mate... going in October... so ticket validity and new park are cool... I have been looking all morning and cant see anywhere here better than £111. I assume i am not going to get it cheaper over there?

Just in case anyone is interested that price is through Royal Bank of Scotland Royalties ticket booking service, so if anyone has an RBS/Natwest you get a good wee discount through them!! :)

Thanks for the car hire website... going to check the prices out now!! We only need it to travel down to St Petes beach for a wedding one weekend in the middle of our trip... so we need ample luggage space... make sense now?

    Cheers
    :)

    Hi

We are trying to book Florida and the parks for the October Half Term, last minute (cos we aren't organised!).

Would like to go the weekend of 20 October to 27 October 2007, but can't find anyone offering 7 night holidays.

    Anyone have any advice please?

    Thanks
    Jays

www.expedia.co.uk has plenty of availability, though you may have to fly indirect. It's not cheap though!

£113 at theme park tickets direct .co.uk, no postage or credit card charges either. They also promise to beat any price published on an authorised website so might be worth an e-mail. They were the cheapest I could find in the summer.

Thanks for the explanation, re the wedding, couldn't work out why you would need luggage mid holiday. Airline network always USED to be the chepest for me but you could also try dollar.co.uk just to double check as things and prices do change, definately best to pre book, especially for a 15 seater as charlies mum said earlier.
