Hi, thanks for the replys. Sorry for being so vague! One of the flights were with 'My Travel' at just over £2600, and they did a fly drive for just over £2800, the other was a flydrive with virgin and this was just over £3000, they were all flying from Manchester. I am not sure about the location of the villa but will check that out and will have a look at the vill sites that Chris25 has provided. This would be our first time in Florida so really haven't got a clue so thanks again for your advice.

Bit of advice re: flydrives. The major tour operators charge a premium for car hire insurance that you will need to take out.

You are generally better to not pay the necessary upgrade insurance, ignore the car provided, and book independantly via a UK company before you go.
  • Hi,

I've booked for Florida next year using http://www.kenwoodtravel.com/ previously recommended on MSE, staying at Bahama Bay.

They were also very helpful, flying from Man with Virgin and cheaper than TCD. Cheers.

Just checked with kenwood travel and they are over £2800 for the same time etc as our holiday but a fly drive ours is £2200 same car, insurance, better seats (although not virgin) and including the hotel

seems you have a good deal from kenwood enjoy your holiday
Received £4541 reclaimed from Natwest :j:T
  • Have been to Orlando a few times, last 3 in a villa but fancy going back on to I Drive next year. We have very small kids so want a suite/apartment rather than hotel room. Can anyone recommend any of the suites, do they have full kitchens or is it just bedroom, living room and are they very expensive, thanks in advance

We stayed in 'Homewood Suites'on I-Drive, they have 1 & 2 bedroom suites with kitchen etc. Very nice hotel and friendly staff. Its set back from TGI fridays/upside down house part of I-drive, the quieter end imo.
The 'only' drawback is the pool is surrounded by the hotel, so theres always some part of the area in the shade, but it does get a good 6-8 hrs of sun.
  • I have been looking around at direct flights for the last 2 weeks in May and prices are £600 to £700 each (I have a 16 yr old and 13 yr old travelling with me).

Are prices likely to go up? I know elsewhere on the thread there is mention of flight sales in the New Year for May but is it risky leaving it until next year.

Some advice would be really appreciated.
  • If you can hold your nerve I would wait, we went in May last year and flights were around £260 each from Teletext.

Totally agree with edinburghlass. May's a quiet time and you should be able to get a bargain closer to the time.

Having said that the prices you quote are quite high anyway - can you bring your dates forward a little to avoid the price increase you get around Whitsun?

If you do decide on a flight price you are happy with and then find that flight for that price, just book it (and stop looking to see if the price reduces further ;) )

I am thinking of going to Florida in November with my parents as a winter get away to shop and relax etc. and have a few questions.

    1. what is the weather generally like in November as we want somewhere which is warm and will cater for wheelchair users.

    2. Can anyone recommend any place to stay in which is wheelchair friendly - cant do stairs or baths must be a walk in shower.

    3. what is car rental prices like for people carriers etc as need a high up vehicle which can be easily accessed, and these only seem to be people carriers or mini MPV such as a fusion

    4. Is £300 per adult a good price for flights in November?

    5. Apart from Disney what are the other attractions in Florida - especially for older people (70)

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    thanks
  • For all you thinking of going to Florida why not shop at Tesco and save points and shop online for extra points and then convert to clubcard deals and go to Florida for free. i have seriously shopped since xmas and have enough to go to florida in November with Virgin, one week at Hard Rock Cafe and one week in a villa. Yipee!!! so now i can use all my money saved to spend, spend, spend!
    Just about to give up!
