  • Hopefully you guys 'in the know' can give some advice.

We holidayed in Florida last year and focussed on the theme parks in Orlando plus Busch Gardens - had a great time. This year we are getting around Florida a bit more, itinerary as follows:

    6 nights in St Pete's
    6 nights in Naples
    4 nights in Key West
    4 nights in Orlando

We're looking for some ideas to keep a fifty-something couple and their 14 year old son happy, particularly when we're away from Orlando.

Everglades springs to mind and possibly Kennedy Space Centre.

Any other ideas and suggestions most welcome.

Hi all, wondered if you can point me in the right direction for a good site for Self catering condos or villas. Also can anyone recommend a good area to look out for? Many thanks.

Kennedy Space Centre is great (even the shuttle ride, which isn't too scary). Go on the "VIP tour" or whatever it is, a bit more pricey but worthwhile.

Also go to the Dali Museum in Tampa, not a long drive from St Pete's and great. (Listen in on the guides when they talk about his "Great works" - I am sure even the 14yo will appreciate the optical illusions). And from there, leave your car in the car park and catch the bus around Tampa, only about 50c each, the guy also gives a little tour talk, sit on it the whole way around takes about 30 minutes). then visit the pier, not great but will kill a bit more time.

Would you believe that my son has been on probably every ride worth going on in every theme park in Florida. And that includes things such as Hulk, that massive slide at Blizzard Beach, Mummy ride etc etc and his favourite was the Space Shuttle at KSC.

Personally i thought it was a bit of a damp squib - There was such a build up to it - really its just a simulator that puts you on your back and vibrates a bit - Bit like a Friday night in my car with the music turned up and my seats laid back...... But thats another story ;)
