Guys - I know I post in here a bit and should probably have a better idea, but ballpark figure what would you budget for 2 people on a flydrive for 2 weeks? Flights, Car, Rooms?
(Have always done it as a big family thing, but wouldn't mind doing it just myself and the better half).

Also, can you get cheap 1 or 2 bed Villas with swimming pools? Much prefer Villa holidays, but couldn't justify the cost of anything big, but doubt Mrs Blink would like a shared pool at a motel (although are these kept well? I can't help thinking of "My Name Is Earl")

Sad i know but i am sitting at the pool in Florida reading MSE, we paid £650 for a four bed villa with pool heat, free phone calls to the UK, free wireless internet for 17 nights. There is only 2 of us but still like a villa, we booked the flights early but the villa we booked around 3 weeks before we flew, we got over 100 replies to our ad on two sites for a villa so plenty to pick from. Sorry have to go going to visit the mouse.

    That is sad.

    ;)

Does anyone know where to get cheap car hire ? Usually get it from Alamo through expeida for 16 days at about £270. However, this year it is £490. I kno the pound has dropped, but that seems way too steep.

Netflights are doing £260 through thrifty, but have been warned off them - any ideas guys ?

    Cheers.

Do you know which comapny they use ? Had a look and they are good, but my Mum likes Alamo/National because they let you choose the car - got to keep her happy !

I have a colleague who is crazy about The Lion King and has asked if I can get them some CDs, DVDs and soft toys whilst I am at Walt Disney World.

Does anyone know if Walt Disney World sell UK-compatible DVDs?

They should do. They used to sell the PAL compatible VHS in days gone by. Mind you, dependant on your friend's dvd player, it could be a region free model in which case, most disks will play anyway without worry.

I did the Thrifty rental through Netflights and I would not do so again. We had two sets of rentals and both vehicles were very .... old and had high mileage. One had no form of air con (not good in Florida!). It did have a ropey fan but we ended up using the "windows open as air con" manoeuvre ;)

They kept trying to levy extra charges on us despite having a pre-paid voucher which eventually they removed, but since returning home they have charged us $30 on our credit card for something they can't tell us what it was for (in fact so far they say they can't see they've charged us at all.... )

I'm sure loads of people have used Thrifty with no worries but next time I will pay the extra and go elsewhere. I have a feeling Thrifty & Dollar may have merged so not sure what impact that may have?

Netflights was cheapest for me also, so I emailed auto-europe as we used them last time and they were good.
They responded by reducing the price to £1 less than netflights.
