Mobile phones are very interesting topics when talking about the USA and Florida

Yes its expensive to make and receive calls whilst away. What I do is that we bought two tracfone from Walmart (see www.tracfone.com) they were $10 each. You then buy credit, so 60 units is $20. You can get codes for doubling that so you can get 120 units for $20.

You can then use those mins to units to call the UK at a unit a min. ALso you can text for 0.3 of a unit as well.

    So thats what we use.

For hotels etc we use a Bizon card from www.paytone.com and that lets us call the UK for 2c a min from a payphone or hotel.

    Cheers

Anyone got any thoughts on Walkie-Talkies, we are 2 families going, so may split up at times and will be in 2 cars - is it worth picking up a cheap pair in Walmart or does everyone have the same idea and you get loads of cross-chat?

    Afternoon Blink

We started with these and they were pretty good ones but were still pretty len really and you could not hear that far away so we went with the tracfones.

If you have the push to talk sorts of mobiles they are good. I think they are called Nextels but we do not have that here.

We bought 2 tracfones when we went 2 years ago - $20 including $10 time. We did not use up all the credit and we were there 3 weeks - great for hubby to go off and do the big rides and I could keep track of him!!!

We then got back and sold them on ebay for what we paid. Only thing is you must ring an 0800 number to start them up and you have to pay for 0800 numbers on public phones so ... the very nice lady at walmart rang and started them up for us (it was v quiet)- took about an hour but we were shopping so do it first!. You then have to start up international dialing as well , I think, bad memory.

    Do check out their website.

I agree these are pricey, i've always found http://www.orlando-ticket-deals.co.uk/ pretty good and the give you the real ticket and not an eticket so you don't have to queue on the first trip to the park to exchange it.

Anyway it is sad that because of the dollar the orlando flex ticket plus is now almost £50 more expensive this year than last year. It's worth shopping around now as these site are almost changing in price day to day.

I have used these too, no problems, and tickets delivered really quickly too. I paid £234 for adult 14 day ultimate ticket, and £199 for kids, with kids eat free cards free with kids tickets.

Another fan of mobiles we brought a pair from Walmart with 300 minutes for $30 the pair. which was £15 last year. They are Nokia phones and quite good certainly paid for themselves with us. And they are sat in my cupboard for next time.

    Sad soccer questions.

Anyone know where I can watch the premier league football in Kissimmee? I know there used to be the Irish bar, on the 192, I think?

And will it show a match that is on at 12:45 GMT (6:45am?) - will annoy Mrs Blink if I get up for it tho!

We are staying at Terra Verde, so anywhere near Oren Brown Road would be good :)

Still the same bar. Not the Queen Vic but have a feeling its called the Royal Oak. But its run by a Scot so prefers to have SPL games on. If there is a big match on it gets packed with Brits. I know He did a couple of breakfast games last year.
You should like Terre Verde. In the clubhouse there are free pcs on the internet so you will be able to tell us all whats happening over there. And you can spend your time in the Gym, as you know there is not a lot to do in Florida!!!

I totally agree - I use mine all the time - we've had them for 3 years now and I think they are great value for money:beer:
