what is the weather like, and generally is it busy?

    I'm off in 13 days...

We tend to visit Florida in Feb as it's the ideal temperature for us as it doesn't tend to get too hot. At the moment it's cold and we have the heating on in the villa!! Florida is having a bad cold spell at the moment but I think (and hope) it will warm up after tomorrow. We are going swimming with dolphins at discovery cove on Friday so I really hope it's not too cold!!!

We went to Epcot today (looked up all the crowd plands etc on the web and this was the park recommended for today) and it was really quiet, walked straight on to Soarin and Space Mission and used fast pass for test track also restaurant was empty we were in so a great day!

    Help!!!

In the US they celebrate Mothers day in May, so maybe March 22nd won't be any busier than any other regular Sunday.

I wouldnt dream of going to Orlando without a car. Then again i wouldnt dream of getting the 2 week meal plan. Disney takes about 5 days (less waterparks) 14 and you'll be bored.

How anyone can be bored of Disney is beyond me.

How about hiring one of the boats from the marina over at the Yacht Club so you can all have a very special front row seat for Illuminations? The most beautiful boat that they have is Breathless, and that would be very special, but I'm not sure if it would hold a party of your size. If not, they have more conventional boats.

I've watched the hot air balloons over Disney, its very early in the morning but it does look very tranquil. As you are all adults how about a Segway Tour in Epcot or now in Fort Wilderness?

    http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides/epcot/epws-segway.htm

We booked for the earliest tour around 8 ish and the first hour is spent learning how to ride the Segway then you spend the next hour riding round the World Showcase area of Epcot before it opens to the public. Its great fun and the leader tells you little snippets about each area you ride through and you see the people opening up the various areas, watering plants and generally get it all ready for the public.

As you are staying in AK Lodge I think they have an early morning tour behind the scenes of AK? No time to check at the moment but I'll have a look later.

I have for many years been an advocate of the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World by Bob Sehlinger and the brilliant Len Testa.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Unofficial-G...3829853&sr=8-1

This book rocks for three reason.

    - complete info on everything
    - touring plans
    - crowd calendar.

I have mentioned a few times the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World by Bob and also Len Testa. The latest version is over 800 pages. If you are going to WDW and want to know everything then please please read this. There simply is nothing better

    - info.

They just know and test everything from the light in the rooms to which bus route is best. Which building to stay in at what hotel. Etc. If there is any question you have on WDW this book will answer it. They undertake months of research with actual people using proper data collection. Its not just opinions, its facts

    - touring plans

I have also mentioned the touring Plans from this book. They are awesome. At the back they have 20 odd plans telling you how to do the magic kingdom etc. It lists things with or without kids etc.

Also the website is www.touringplans.com has 1000000 of touring plans. Well a lot anyway. Really use this and take this a nose

    - crowd calendar

I often answered saying use touringplans.com. Len studied planning at college and it really shows. These are collated by real data and not guess work.

Just a plug for an excellent resource

    Cheers

These balloons and some from Clermont fly right over my pool early in the morning. If I knew a way of posting pics I would attach some as they look stunning. These seem to fly right between the houses and over the orange groves. Awesome.

many thanks for your comments but we really would like a villa ( do disney do villas?) we will have young children and like the idea of them napping whilst we can still go in the pool and not be sat in hotel room and would like the freedom to bbq

they do a kind of villa yes. Also they do family suites in the All stars now as well. Whilst they are a little more expensive they are well worth the money INHO as the experience is second to none.

Having a villa without a car is not impossible but is very difficult

  • :T The closest Villas to Disney are windsor villas who also provide transport to all theme parks for a fee ($10 return pp) to Disney, ($14 return pp) to Universal etc , I have booked a villa there for October 2009 and can pass on her name if required, Hope this helps
