Yey, its 1.25am and I'm jet lagged. So happy to be back...
Can't see that anyone has posted this (though am cross eyed from the lack of sleep) but Disneyworld has just started promoting a new offer of 7 days for the price of four, with other offers thrown in if you book early. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Saw an item on TV when in Orlando that may be of interest to people in the UK but owning homes in Florida.
If you appoint a builder to undertake work on your house (eg new roof) and the builder uses sub-contractors or suppliers and then goes bankrupt (sadly now not uncommon) you can be sued for the value of the repairs/supplies, forcing you to pay twice. This is pushing some home owners into foreclosure.
There appears to be ways round this, such as to get an agreement up front whereby you cannot be liable for such charges, or to get proof that your contractor has paid their suppliers before you pay them.

Many thanks for this. Yes its a problem. We had something similar when our pool was being built. All of the subbies but liens on our house until they were paid. It was fine as we made sure that our contractor paid them and she also should us when the leins were lifted.
Its a standard practice but its real scary as no one here has that sort of thing.Self confessed Florida expertwith over 320 trips there!

Thanks disney-cjd, I hadn't heard of it until I saw it on the news, and thought I was relatively well informed about the FL housing market (have plenty of friends who are realtors there even though I don't own except DVC). Are you back in the UK or still in glorious FL? Can't keep up!Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Any other Disney Vacation Club members on here? If so and you are a member at Old Key West, if you haven't sent your extension paperwork back by January, they will lock you out of booking until you do. Found out this scary fact from DVC while over. Many Brits haven't sent there paperwork back as it requests notary counter-signature.
Sorry to non-DVCers for a post that's a bit specialised, but this is an MSE post as if members don't do this they'll have a paid for asset that they can't use, and will still have to pay dues on.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? hi everyone
I'm booking for disney next december (early) in one of the disney hotels, thinking caribbean beach, the prices seem to be rocketing in 2010.
Has anyone got any advice about the weather, I have been before with my son in April 2007 and the weather was good, a bit worried it may be a bit on the cool side.
also has anyone been to discovery cove, I have been pricing the tickets and it makes the trip a lot more expensive, but my son (12) is blind and I think that a swim with the dolphins would be fantastic. Is it worth the extra money
please help!! despartly need some advice
thanks Everyoneback to comping :beer:0 -
Ive been for the last 3 years from Jan 1st and it's always been about 18 - 27 degrees give or take.
Not a drop of rain either - not a single one.0 -
that's not bad at all
I've seriously been checking out the sites tonight and thomas cooke is definately coming out the cheapest, a bit dubious about using the lesser know sites in todays climate.
thanks for the info
