  • You're doing so well, Emz.  I wish I had your dedication.

I see from reading back over your diaries that you're a massive tennis fan, as am I.  Looks like Wimbledon might be cancelled and with it maybe possibly the last chance to see Andy Murray in action.  Before  the coronavirus scuppered everything it looked as if he was gearing up to play there if nowhere else this year.  I'm not a huge fan of his (sorry!) but I appreciate his talent and all that he has done for British tennis.

Are you still entering competitions?  I might do a bit more again now I'll have less to occupy me outside.

Thank you - I'm enjoying having something to aim for each day and having a bit of structure too. If I didn't do it, then I'd just be sat around playing Candy Crush!!

I love my tennis and am so glad we went to Wimbledon last year and didn't get tickets this year. I agree that I think it's unlikely we will get to see Andy Murray play much again, if at all. It's a real shame as I loved watching him play and I fondly remember big moments when he won grand slams and Olympic medals (I stayed up until 3am watching him winning his US Open title). I have chosen my next favourite player to support as Zverev as his playing style is very similar to Murray and he gets quite angry at times (best racquet abuse I've ever seen!!).

I used to love entering competitions, but they have changed so much recently that they are so much harder to win now. Most of them are on social media and they require you to tag a hundred people and share this and that, comment here, visit this site etc etc - and that's usually just for a packet of crisps!! Does my head in!! I much prefer doing the surveys now as at least I'm guaranteed to get something for the work I'm putting in. Best of luck with any you enter though.

I'll need more than luck as I never enter anything via social media, phone-ins or anything like that. and nearly every other entry method seems to have totally dried up. I haven't entered anything for months.   I'm old enough to remember the golden years of comping when we had to traipse round shops finding entry forms, maybe buying qualifiers and, the best bit, writing tie-breakers.  I won all sorts through tie-breakers/slogans over the years such as a trip to NY on Concorde (first class no less!), holidays, a supermarket trolley dash (would be very welcome at the moment!), large kitchen appliances etc etc.  A car eluded me, that was always my ultimate prize but I won runner up prizes in car comps which came in handy such as a voucher for a set of alloy wheels which I gave to DH. Lots of cars didn't have them as standard in those days but my car did.  I've found my only recent successes have been comps in our local newspaper (very low value stuff but welcome nonetheless ) and raffles at local events.
