If someone coming the other way is on my side of the road, do I have to move over?

Deastons - Have you reported this to the police? Do you have dash cam footage? If that section of road is particularly bad then it's the cops job to observe it and take appropriate action. Should earn them some superb fine-money if it's as bad as you say!You can have results or excuses, but not both.Challenge - be 14 Stone BY XMAS!

I was doing 60mph, they were doing more than that (assuming the lorry was doing around 56mph), even an emergency stop wouldn't have prevented me hitting them.
Could you provide a link to where it says I must make space?
I'm not saying the other party isn't wrong, but the answer to your question of whether you have to make space is blatantly obvious. What's the alternative? Don't make space and someone/people get hurt/killed. As to who's at fault, the oncoming driver's overtake would be the root cause. If there was contact but no personal injury, I'm sure the insurance would go 50:50 in the absence of footage or independent witnesses.0 -

I do have a dashcam, but I haven't reported it. Can't believe they'll be that interested.
Yes, this road is constantly a "three lane" road. In rush hour, long queues form to the roundabout at the end, so a large number of cars just drive on the other side of the road, forcing oncoming traffic to move over for them and then go all the way around the roundabout (forcing the queuing traffic to give way to them).
Saves them about 5mins of queuing, so well worth it I'm sure.0 -
I'm actually worried that someone who is driving has to ask the question.
Driving isn't a game of chicken. It's not about how macho you are.
If someone thinks they can do as they please. Let them. They'll learn. . .
And at 60 mph with a parked vehicle coming up on your side of the road, you were driving in such a manner that you could stop if need be?
You weren't just assuming that nothing would happen to stop you going around the parked vehicle?0 -

So you say I am "obliged to create space" but can't actually provide something to back it up?0 -
Send the footage to the roadside workers' employer. They may wish to use it to risk-assess work on that road in future.0

Given your posting history(under both this and your other username)/constant questions re driving rights/wrongs have you ever considered having some more driving lessons/retaking your test ?

Fair point, maybe I should have slowed when I saw there was a van parked on the side. But the lane is wide enough for two vehicles, so I wasn't actually going "around" their van, just passing it. It was only once the car coming the opposite direction moved into my lane it got hairy.0
