  • I would have accepted their offer too - £70 off is £70 towards another debt. Can you ring them back and accept the offer or is it too late now?

Also, you are spending a lot of money on taxis to go to town everyday. Can you skip a few days going to town? This would save loads too.

I stopped the taxis 9days ago. I stay in now :@)

  • If you do not have the £170 then there is no point asking them for a final figure?
You need to be asking what they will accept monthly.

Also as you are both on job seekers it may fingers crossed be that your income could go up and if it does you are not vastly in debt and could have this sorted out with very careful planning.
I have a similar debt which is easily manageable for me but I still want to pay it off and I need the motivation to kepp a budget and stick to it so I can throw any spare at my debt and get it cleared once and for all.

    Good luck with yours.
  • Don't take this the wrong way, but I have 3 kids and am a stay at home mum. Being a mum is really hard work and every mum needs a break now and again. My eldest 2 go to school, but my youngest is only 20mths. I would love a day off every week for 'me time' but I cannot afford it at the moment because I am in debt. £28 a week for your DD to go to nursery is a luxury you cannot really afford at the moment on your income. Is it not possible for your partner to look after her while you have some time just for you? If this is something you are not prepared to compromise on, then that is fine, but if this was me it would be the first thing that would have to go for the time being.

  • Is the nursery £28 for a full day once a week?
  • £28 a week is a lot to pay for childcare that you don't actually need :) That's £120 a month you could be paying towards your debt. You could always start sending her again once things are getting better (and won't she qualify for a free place once she reaches a certain age?).

I noticed you said you spend £10 a day in town? Have you stopped this now then?

Your debt is not that bad, honestly. But you need to cut back on the unnecessary spending if you want to get it cleared off asap :) Big well done on cutting back on the cigarettes, I know how hard that is!
You can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that :p

Proud to be BSC no. 103
  • If its £28 per week and you could get your other half to look after your DD while you go out and have a break you could put the money to your debts and over the year that would be £1456.

Nearly half your debt!! Scary when its put like that isn't it...

On a positive note now you have a handle on your finances hopefully your debt will not go up.
