Outfox The Market Direct Debit changes

It seems lots of customers have received upwardly-revised DD notifications over the weekend, in some cases only days before the money will be taken from their bank accounts. Is it even legal for a company to do this without giving a certain amount of notice?0

I believe they need to give 10 days notice of changes to direct debits.0 -
There is no set amount of days notice that MUST be given.I believe they need to give 10 days notice of changes to direct debits.
From https://www.directdebit.co.uk/DirectDebitExplained/pages/managingdirectdebit.aspxYou should be notified in advance – normally 10 working days – of any changes to amounts to be paid or the payment dates
Note the word SHOULD not MUST in the direct debit site's description of how direct debits work.0 -

From directdebit.co.uk:
If there are any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit the organisation will notify you (normally 10 working days) in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed. If you request the organisation to collect a payment, confirmation of the amount and date will be given to you at the time of the request
I couldn't finding anything in OTM's T&C but they said 10 working days notice in their email 15 November.0 -
Actually, I have just found my own download of OFTM's welcome pack, and their own DD guarantee says:
"If there are any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit Outfox the Market will notify you 10 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed"
I will have had only 5 working days' notice of my own higher payment when it is taken on Tuesday!0 -
My 26 November DD wasn't increased, however they sent out a revised email on the 22nd after the one on the 12th. Maybe it will increase with your January payment, but it's still worth emailing them to find out / dispute it.0

I haven't had a single reply to any of the questions that I have sent OFTM by email over the last few weeks. That is part of the problem!0 -
Keep an eye on the direct debit figure given in 'your details' in your HeroHub account. My 26 November DD wasn't increased, however they sent out a revised email on the 22nd after the one on the 12th.
The latest problem is that OFTM are not taking the lower, revised amount specified in the email of 22 November, but either the previously-given higher one, or even a much higher figure altogether.0 -
Just tried yet another comparison on USwitch and noticed they are now using OFTMs January rates in their calcs.
They show exc. VAT but with VAT added they exactly matched.0
