  • Dear Shaftthemarket,
What can I say...What an admission!!! "The trouble with being honest is that one soon gets found out". from Oscar Wilde, in "A Picture of Dorian Grey".
So it was you that put this crazy...or should I say...cunning marketing plan into their heads...And there was I, thinking that they did it all on their own little ownios. The trouble is, that from planting little acorns, great oak trees grow...with OTFM, it has turned into Giant Redwoods. Goodness knows if it will now be adopted by the rest of the energy market. A fundamental revolution in marketing...And you didn't even copyright it...you would have made a fortune.

What a confession, what a terrible, costly f**ck up for us poor plebs.
Never mind, it will all come out in the energy wash. Better luck next time.
    With kind regards,
    ATB
    Dougie.
  • If no reply in 3 days, then send a copy of the email again and request a reply in 7 days, else if they don't, say that you will take further legal action if they do whatever it is that they are going to do to you, like take the money from your account. That should put a flea in their ointment... After all they only gave us 10 days...why not repay the compliment.

P.S. I have never been able to work out what "I will take further legal action" means...never got that far, but never mind, there could always be a first...You never know with cunning foxes, ever since we started to protect them from the hounds, they have got cockier and cockier and spread like when s**t hits the fan...:-)).
  • This company needs reporting to Ofgem and closing ASAP, they are obviously a scam setup to borrow money from customers and then preventing switches when you cancel the DD's to stop the flow of cash
The greatest prediction of your future is your daily actions.
  • The company has already been reported to Ofgem...many, many times. Ofgem doesn't want to know because the problem isn't within its remit. Don't you think that the company should continue in operation? After all, think of the consequences for its customers and the industry, who will have to fork out for its poor management and accountability, just before Christmas too. A lot of companies, when they start up, make mistakes, and sometimes their owners think that they are on to a gravy train, before those "hidden forces of the market place" which Adam Smith, that great 18th Century Scottish Philosopher and economist, come into operation and give them a rude awakening.
I am all for helping small companies to boost competition in the market place, they help to keep the "big yins" on their toes. Often, they get taken over too, but some of them grow into good companies.

In my humble opinion, you should give the company the benefit of the doubt for now...until such time they show that they are listening.

The only thing I don't like about them is that they are registered in Malta. If only because I think that all companies should pay their taxes to their country of origin, or the country in which they have operations, but believe it or not, the two biggest money laundering countries in the world are the UK and the US.
    Just a few thoughts,

Still waiting for OFTM reply to my email sent Sunday evening 18 Nov to mr@outfoxthemarket.co.uk

Anyone had a reply yet to email ?

I emailed on the 15th, no reply.

I emailed again on the 18th requesting they respond prior to taking the next Direct Debit (due on 22nd). No reply.

People have mentioned getting through on Live-Chat, but that has not been available to me on their website at any time since receiving notification of the increased Direct Debit.

Their email notification received on 15th November states they are giving me 10 days notice to increase my Direct Debit, but my Direct Debit goes out on 22nd of each Month (less than 10 days since notification), therefore I am very interested to see if they try and take the increased amount this Month.

OFTM have no appreciation of who their market is. They have attracted lots of customers who never pay more than they have to and who will not lie down and take this rubbish. My DD has gone from £91 to £164. If they are not in financial trouble now they soon will be. I've tried explaining that my energy consumption is evenly spread throughout the year. I've tracked it for 4 years and can provide all the details. I just hope they learn the error of their ways before they go bust and people lose their jobs. I've switched - so long you SLY FOX.
  • Why not send an email to your M.P. enclosing a copy of the emails to Foxy, explaining what the problem is, and ask him for his help? Or even go to Complaint Resolver and get them to take it up for you. If you are going to do anything you will need to act quickly, else, they will be taking the money out as they said. They aren't interested in the law unless it suits them, they just want the money...in my view.
    Up to you...:-).

  • Checked my bank account this morning: they had reinstated the DD. So I cancelled it again and sent a fourth email to their complaints department. They haven't responded to the first three so I fully expect them to ignore it.

I only take electricity from them and we don't use it to heat our home, so our usage is flat throughout the year. I have also taken monthly meter readings since joining OFTM which show this.

Despite this, and our account already being £60 in credit our DD is being increased from £34 to £60.mth over the winter.

I emailed OFTM and explained the situation, but received a ridiculous reply in which they claim that taking more money from me over the winter will "be more beneficial to my budgeting" and will "have the added benefit that you are not accumulating lots of unnecessary credit with us which you then have to ask to be refunded but instead you are paying for what you use in a more balanced way". Did they even read this reply before sending it? That's exactly the opposite of what the new DD will do.

OFTM require that you make a month's payment in advance before they supply electricity. I thought that this payment in advance was to to buffer the slight ups and downs through the year, but now I can see that this policy is nothing more than another cash grab, which is extremely worrying.

OFTM have an official complaints email address and I suggest everyone affected lodges an official complaint with them at complaints@foxglove.energy

That reply signifies to me they are trying to boost their coffers before going bust !

Hope I am wrong for oftm customers.
