High streets and shopping centres may now be festooned in Christmas decorations and lights to get you to spend, but when's the right time to do it at home?

Some at MSE Towers have seen their neighbours put up Christmas lights - is it still too soon, or are we being bah humbugs? Let us know in the thread below.

You should do whatever makes you happy. Who cares what other people think? My house, my rules. Mine will go up at the end of November but I’ve seen a few houses with lights up already.
  • It's after Remembrance Sunday. Personally, I wait until Advent.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
  • No sooner that 1st December for our home

December 1st is still too early as far as I'm concerned.

My neighbour has had lights on outside now for eight days.
In January he will be moaning about his electricity bill.
  • I had this exact same conversation with a friend when we were passing one of my neighbour’s houses which was lit up to the rafters last week. I pointed out that the Oxford Street Christmas lights had been switched on the previous day, in response to her disapproving moans, and she promptly switched tack and said, oh that’s alright then. However, I do tend to agree that it’s a bit of overkill to have decorations up this early for residential dwellings.
