  • Goodness, that is awful, you should have complained if you thought that whatever happened had racial overtones, that is unacceptable. Were you members?

We have just joined and have already had our money's worth as each visit would cost £15 per person.

It was quite blatant, obviously over the years we've had incidents but honestly nothing like this. Their loss as far as I'm concerned, plenty of other nice places to go, never had anything but positive experiences at English Heritage properties.

  • Candy I did want to go ape but as my husband is disabled and feels I have to do too much he feels guilty about it so the more fuss I made the worse he would feel. Does that make sense, I'm not sure it is very clear but basically he feels I get this because of him and it is his fault so I try to minimise it. I shouldn't have to think about that and neither should he. It isn't a nice world sometimes is it. More nice people than nasty at the end of the day so we focus on that.

We are spening ten days at my parents', starting tomorrow, so I have to empty the fridge and the fruitbowl. I cooked five soft-ish apples into chunky applesauce, and will freeze it as soon as it has cooled down a bit. The apples were a bit too sweet to make a nice applesauce, so I added some lemon juice. It is so simple to make, why do I always buy it?

Other leftovers were four leeks, half a paprika, olives and a handful of toasted sun flower seeds. I made them into a leek pie, with a homemade bottom (self raising flower, eggs, mustard). It is delish!

The leftover dough was made into flat strips, grated cheese on top, and put in the oven. They made a lovely light snack.

The local spa sent me a birthday gift: free facial treatment and discounted entry fee. So, for just €18 I have spent a morning in a lovely garden, had 25 minutes of facial treatment, and have a small set of bodymilk and facial cream. The spa is located in a small castle, really cute. I am not too keen on saunas, so I just enjoyed the large garden. The spa has a nude part and a bathing suit part, and this morning I checked out the nude part, which includes the garden, and has a larger swimming pool than the bathing suit part. It was rather crowded, however, so I did not feel comfortable swimming there.

As a person of colour, thats sad to read. But, as you write, its their loss.

I too love English Heritage. I am keen to visit lots more properties next year.
  • Happy Solstice Everyone.

Got lots of champagne moments planned today.

    Have a great day.
  • Had a nice bath, hair done, off to the library to get my Christmas books and then this afternoon I am meeting some friends for a carol service followed by mince pies and nibbles. Just got some fresh stuff to buy for Christmas but I think I am doing that on Sunday.
  • I did a face mask last night and then a thick cream afterwards. I sit there for about an hour and then rinse it off my face.

A man in the park said I was beautiful today. He was about 70 and was quite scruffy but I will take the compliment.:rotfl:

I want to get some new rings but I'm going to wait until I lose weight. My engagement and wedding ring don't fit me at this weight. I'm not going to replace then with bigger ones as my engagement ring is platinum and was quite pricy.

For some reason that made me giggle.:rotfl:

My husband is African and was refused entry to most dancing facilities in Brussels. He contacted a television company, got outfitred with a hidden camera, and made a documentary about it. We hope it has helped; my younger coloured colleagues seem to have very few stories of being refused.
