Complete with wine and nibbles, free :-) I did have to buy a bus ticket as it was straight after work, though my retired friends didn't even have that cost. And today - morning meeting had bacon rolls. Sadly didn't have an empty box with me for some leftovers though did take a bacon roll for lunch.
Sounds like a good evening for not very much money. Unfortunately I can't do anything like that as we're nowhere near anything.
Well done on the free food:T.

No champagne moments today just a lot of damp dusting, hoovering and mopping! Never mind stove will be getting lit for the first time tomorrow.:)0

I've been running down the freezer contents so today it was the big defrost. Not very champagne but I've got a nice ice free freezer and can stock up for Christmas. Simple pleasures.0

I too suffer with weeziness with cleaning products, bleach is particularly bad on my lungs. I also like Method cleaning products and at the moment at Tesco they are on offer at 3 for £6 so I am stocking up!
It was Stardrops that done me in. Worst hand dermatitis ever from that stuff.0 -
Sitting at the railway station, got a ticket for my destination .....
Homeward bound.
Now at sunny Southampton. Just going to get a nice leisurely cup of coffee whilst I wait for the train. Then sit back and enjoy the last leg of the journey.
Catch up later.0 -
Enjoying a leisurely brunch with dds (husband is visiting a friend for a week), consisting of leftover St. Nicolas mandarins, biscuits and chocolate for them and a1di Greek yoghurt with homemade granola for me
My parents are coming for a week starting today; I feel really blessed that at 82 (Mum) and 77 (Dad) they are still healthy, in sound mind, and willing to travel 5 hours on public transport and stay in our guestroom. They enjoy diy, and will help me get over the blues after my change of career. I am happy about no longer having to work where I was working, but am having some problems adjusting to stay-at-hhome life. It'll pass, but any help is appreciated. Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -

Frugality is ok, but getting as much luxury, life and little treats out of whatever you can spare is much better0 -

In my case, my anxiety is lined to my Autism...my social anxiety is such that I can barely speak to family on the phone - not a hope of answering the phone to a stranger!...in fact I have only had a phone for the last few years as I was so scared of the thing ringing!...and other people freak me out so much I couldn't even drink a coffee in public....
...thankfully I have been prescribed meds that REALLY help...and have the World;s Most Supportive Mum...with the help of meds I can even tolerate short family visits...and last time I even ate a (very small!) piece of cake whilst my sister was in the room!
One luxury for me....Mum and I are planning a visit to a place that serves Posh Afternoon Tea...they do a Christmas Special...AND for a small supplement you can have a private room! (although I HAVE managed to sit in the main room, provided I face the wall and can't see people..and no one can watch me eat!) ...AND they give you a box to take leftovers home, so I will enjoy a cup of tea and whatever small bit I can eat...and the rest can come home and be eaten the next day in my 'safe; home surroundings as a second treat!
Couldn't sleep much last night...so did some laundry...and there is another little luxury...is there anything nicer than slipping between the freshly changed covers????
Prinzessilein - just to say your special gingerbread recipe which you posted many moons ago has given us so much pleasure so please thank your Mum too!
It is simply the best........!
I am sure fellow MSE`ers would love to see it too so I am adding it here,
Oh...and here is the recipe for Mum's Gingerbread....it is all in imperial measurements...and uses the standard German idea of using plain flour and adding baking powder.....it is one of the yummiest ginger cakes I know - and is deliciously squidgy! (It also freezes beautifully...I cut it into slices and freeze individual portions....Mum freezes the whole cake)
1lb Plain Flour; 8oz Brown Sugar; 6oz butter; 3/4 lb Golden Syrup; 1/2 pint Milk; 1 egg; 3-4 tsp ground ginger; 2 tsp ground cinnamon; 1/2 tsp ground cloves; 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg; 1/2 tsp bicarb of soda; 2 tsp baking powder; 1/2 tsp salt
In a saucepan, warm the butter, syrup and sugar until dissolved. Cool until the mixture is lukewarm and then beat in the egg. Sieve the flour with the spices, salt, bicarb and baking powder - add this to the mixture a little at a time. Warm the milk a little and add this to the mix stirring until the mixture is well blended and smooth. (It will be rather thin and runny - this is normal!)...Divide the mixture between two greased and lined 1lb loaf tins (the tins will each be about 3/4 full) . Bake in a preheated oven. Gas 3 to 3 1/2 or equivalent. Middle shelf for about an hour. ...check the cakes with a fork - if it comes out clean they're done...if not ready then cover the cakes with baking parchment and bake for 10 minutes more (sometimes takes 2 more 10 minute cooks)
