Back home and my bathroom is Fab-u-Lous. :D. We're talking 5 star boutique hotel luxury bathroom. :rotfl:

Just need to get the rest of the house up to speed now. :rotfl:

Unfortunately plumber couldn't fix bottom oven..(gas). I'll think about that next year. I might bring the new kitchen forward. I need to work out my finances before I make a decision on that. In the meantime I still have the small top oven which is fine when it's just me. I might look at buying an extra electric worktop oven for the time being. I've got plenty of counter space.

I'm definitely with you on the flowers. They don't have to cost much. I also like nice houseplants too, not only do they add visual interest they can also help improve air quality in our homes.

Anyway just going to take it easy now. Bit tired after travelling. Been up since the crack of dawn.

Loving all the chat and ideas.

Welcome to any newbies I have missed. I need to go over the last few pages and read properly.

    Adrian Mole......:rotfl::rotfl:

I know several people who fell foul of the new pension rules. In my case I was only 16 months out so not too bad but some people have lost serious amount of pension and have seen their retirement hopes and dreams seriously compromised.

Nothing to tell really. He is a widower and very sweet, quiet and gentle with a nice sense of humour. Lovely blue eyes But honestly he's not for me.

I also met a nice lady and the three of us hung out together. I actually think she and Adrian would make a great couple. Anyway we've all exchanged contact details.

Oops sorry didn't answer your question. Yes I actually reinstated a bath because the previous occupant had removed it and put in a large double shower.

I realise that there might come a time when I too won't be able to manage a bath but for now I can. I have tried to ensure that the bathroom will meet my changjng needs - at least for the time being. I now have a "comfort height" WC and the bath has both a non slip surface and two grab hand rails. There is also room to put a pole next to the bath if necessay (they are useful, we put one in our old house for the the in-laws when they came to stay) and room for grab rails next to the loo.

I have put an electric shower over the bath so everything is now in place in case I do have to remove the bath and put a shower cubicle in its place at a later date.

This is why it's been such a big expensive job.......I wanted to ensure that I was making the bathroom future proof. I learned such a lot from when I cared for my husband and from watching my aged parents struggle.

The plan is to make my new home disabled user friendly so that I can age in situ and hopefully not have to go into a care home until the last possible moment.

My new bathroom layout means there is now space for mobility aids and/or a carer if necessary.

Yes it was expensive but I think it was worth the extra costs.

    Fingers crossed.

I try not to think about the over £10,000 of net income the Government stole off me before I even had the chance to get my mitts on it - and I could do with having my money myself:cool:

I only wish I could get back that bit of SERPS pension money they stole as well (ie by making that couple of changes to how they worked it out - as I recall one of them, for instance, was changing from basing it on my "best 20 years" to "average 30 years" and there was some other excuse for helping themselves they also put in place).

I won't even go there re all the other money I've lost over the years - being single and childless....

I would be genuinely interested to know what you mean by this.
  • I would be genuinely interested to know what you mean by this.

Bit wary of answering - because it usually results in the person that had these things going off on one (though they've had them personally) - but I'll assume the genuine query you say it is.

The "married persons tax allowance" was around for a while after I started work. There was no equivalent of "child benefit" to childless people.
