Wednesday2000 said:I hope it goes well Mrs SS. I read about a book that might interest you regarding your side hustle. It was on Monevator's blog this weekend. It's called Just F****** Do It: Stop Playing Small. Transform Your Life - Noor Hibbert. It's the number 1 best seller on Amazon in starting a small business.5

Good morning my lovely friends.Candy......how awful about them not advising about your scan, especially as you have been waiting so long. You must be feeling so exasperated. Hope you get some joy with them soon. Not sure what my champagne moments will be today....Not sure if I've got granny duty or a free day. Either way is good. The joy of spending time with my family or the total freedom to spend the day just as I please. My new cooker arrived finally - 9.30 last night - those poor delivery men, I wasn't their last drop off either!! Makes me more appreciative of my retirement than ever. Total freedom to do as much or as little as I like, I usually try to do lots of course because I want to remain healthy and active to the bitter end.😂. And anyway I like being busy. But I cannot express enough the pleasure I have at being free and independent. All I can say is FI is wonderful and well worth making a few sacrifices to achieve it. Wednesday and Mrs S. keep going, keep your eyes on the prize and working towards your goal. You'll get there and it will be worth your efforts.9

I've not had it long and so far I just read what my DIL shares with me. I think I have 5 followers who have signed up but I never post anything for them. I'm a dead loss really. 😂
I do still want to start a blog. Hopefully I can get to grips with how to do it over the winter. I'll need some help to get it up and running though. I'm not very tech minded, which us why I haven't really used my Instagram account. No granny duties today, so I'm going to do some cupboard sorting. I just managed to go for a walk before the rain set it in.My new to me book has arrived. "Stuffocation, how to live more with less" so I'll start that today too. I've read it before but I fancied reading it again. It might help motivate me in my decluttering efforts. I'm also rereading a book called "Younger Next Year". That is helping me stay motivated to exercise.I have ordered the book Wednesday recommended so hopefully that will give me a kick up the derrière and get my started as an entrepreneur. 😂🤣 Or in my case a "seniorpreneur". Apparently they are quite the upcoming thing in the USA.All these motivational books......well I did say I wanted to "reset". 😂5 -
LL.............when I first started reading this thread I wrote down all the books that were mentioned here. Managed to get hold of the one where the Author started out as market trader. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Working my way down the list but library really slow at the moment. Can't blame them...........and am so grateful for them.
This is going to sound weird but my champagne moments for the last 6 weeks have been having my Learning Disabled brother staying with me. He brings me such joy.
My constant champagne is my Staffie, Tiggy. No lemonade budget..............
XAKA : Bala La Boo & Bala Baloo
According to a lovely poster I am Bala the Brave who wrestled a Tiger. You know who you are.....

Is that "Pocketfull of Dreams". I love that book. So inspirational. And no, enjoying having your brother to stay doesn't sound weird at all. Family and friends are so precious, even more so at times like this. Same with pets. I'm still tempted to get a cat. Need to sort out a cat flap first.6

Back when we were renovating our Wiltshire house, I shared a blog with the much more techy savvy DS who was doing his own renovations in London, although I confess he was far better at keeping it updated than me.... possibly because we were bogged down building a large extension.
I've been meaning to start another on my own, but haven't found the time. Hopefully I'll keep up the instagram momentum, lol!
Today's a lovely sunny one, so this morning I grabbed the opportunity to clear away loads of the laurels I pruned back hard the other week, removing everything to the bonfire/compost pile. Now I'm taking a break before giving the last wall of the kitchen a final coat of emulsion. It's hidden behind a large gallery wall of art so I've been putting it off a) because it was barely noticeable that it needed doing and b) I CBA to remove all the artAnyway, I'm on it now......
Champagne moments today include finding a plumber that can do the bathroom first fix next week, saving DH the job. We used him once before and know he's got high standards, plus he only charges £120 per day so that's great!
Also, have discovered a pair of cushions in my under bed ottoman stash that just require a little tweaking with a needle/thread to be perfect for the main bedroomMortgage-free for fourteen years!

I haven't the faintest idea what to put on Instagram that might interest others!! Will wait for nice sunset, we live near JMW Turner town. Not allowed out until next Tuesday as back from overseas and in two week shutdown.
Helensbiggestfan, you’d write a great blog, as you write, as does Phoebe in such an engaging wayCarolbee8 -
Thank you carolbee.I'm not quite sure yet what form the blog should take. I suppose a sort of lifestyle/retirement blog. Over the last few years I have become very interested in personal development, in how to effect change, to live life to the max and to be the best I can be. I think I am something of a "late bloomer" and it's only relatively recently that I have found my "voice".I also think my husbands long illness and subsequent death has had a really profound effect on me. It completely changed my life, transforming my way of thinking and being. It has been such a learning curve, forcing me to re-evaluate everything, making me stronger and more resilient. Without wishing to sound pompous or pretentious I do feel that I now have something of value to say and write about.I need to mull it over......😂
I have recently finished my memoirs......well hopefully the first 2/3rds of my life. 😉. I'd like another 20 years at least. 😂🤣. Just need to edit it now.11 -
I'd love to read along if you do a blog LL.I think you're positive, n practical outlook is so uplifting. If I'm having a crap day, I read one of your posts ,n instantly feel better"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
