Sweet little dogs.Well hello my lovely friends. I'm finally back in business with my iPad. Don't know what that was all about, because I haven't done anything to it, it just decided to stop sulking all by itself. 😂. I always did ignore sulkers😂🤣.Not much happening here. I've Felt a bit off it so I had a quiet few days, reading, and a few films. Champagne moment this morning was a much needed massage, feel much better for it. Weather not great, it's stopped raining (for the moment) but I don't think we've finished yet.Going to do a bit of painting - nothing too strenuous, just undercoat some woodwork. Easy does it today.7

Glad to see you back in action, LL
The weather has been truly awful today, but despite the wind and rain, there have been a few champagne moments to brighten proceedings.....
This morning my pair of fabulous Pooky block printed, pleated lampshades for the main bedroom were delivered. They weren't cheap at £58 each, but when you consider the lamp bases cost us nothing (and I'd originally been planning to spend £330 on lamps/shades) it seems a bargain
DH brought me home some beautiful gladioli for the kitchen yesterday - £8 for a massive bunch that should last ages!
And I had a lovely long chat with DS last night, hearing all about how he and his family celebrated his birthday at the weekend, followed by him emailing me some pics of their day at the Natural History Museum amongst other things......

Today's first champagne moment is that the weather has calmed down and there are blue skies again
After a few weeks of feeling CBA to bake anything, I've all my ingredients out ready to make a cake!
Mainly, I'm feeling over the moon with how the freebie cabinets have turned out. A boring brown when we were given them, I appreciate we have rather bold/eclectic tastes so they won't appeal to many, lol!
The sheer number of hours/amount of effort involved in completing the decoupage/ageing/varnishing/waxing was vast, but for a total outlay of £1, I'm absolutely thrilled with the finished article(s). They are the icing on the cake of our covered dining area

I think they look lovely. When my 4sons were young I used to buy 2nd hand furniture n paint and rag it. It covered a multitude of sins and as it was quite cheap I didn’t worry too much about what the ‘Demolition Squad‘ did to them7

Really lovely work on the cabinets and lovely covered dining area. I have a question, are you able to close it off and if not won't the damp get into the furniture and pictures. I'm asking because I had a dressing table that was well wrapped but ruined by damp getting in.I'm asking because I love it and am thinking of having a verandaWomen and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

Very creative Phoebe!
I have been quite organised today. I made a few phone calls, washed the bedding and put the winter duvet back on the bed, washed my autumn/winter pyjamas and ordered an academic 2021 calendar. It does feel like the season is about to change. I'm now relaxing watching one of my favourite TV shows.5 -
Thanks everyone
needmoney, before winter we're planning on making it into a screened porch type arrangement with removable perspex (or similar) panels on the open sides to give added protection. Hopefully that will prevent any serious problems!
Over the past two winters since we bought the house the roofed structure was in situ (this year we've just enlarged it slightly, put up additional t&g panelling etc), with the same rug/pictures, but with garden furniture and an old dresser. The only issues we encountered were a slight greening of the rug edge nearest the outside and a couple of the pictures developed damp spots on the reverse.
The storms of the past few days had no effect - nothing moved even in the 60+ mph winds, but it's a fairly secluded space sitting inside 2' thick walls separating the courtyard from our main garden.....
A veranda will be lovely - we had one (built in the 1920s) at our previous house and it's one of the things I miss most about the outside spaceMortgage-free for fourteen years!
