wow, that’s an amazing saving, sugar.  I bet your daughter will be amazed with her gift.
  • SUgarbaby, that sounds fantastic. I bet she'll be thrilled.
  • LL and Chanie, my older daughter can never own enough make up as far as she is concerned and she likes a rainbow of colours so the Ciate Beauty set will be the best present I could give her. As there were only 2,700 sets available at £49.99 I did not think I would be one of the lucky buyers, but thankfully I was.  :D  :D

Mind you I am flabbergasted that there are women out there willing to spend £397 on a make up set  :*

    Hope everyone is ok?

We've been extremely busy over the past few days, mostly finishing jobs in the kitchen and doing more reconfiguration prep upstairs  ;)

Although it's been hard work, a few  champagne moments have managed to sneak in too  :)

The kitchen island surface is now fully micro-cemented and looks fab! We saved a huge amount a) by DIYing it and b) by taking the advice of the online chat chap who suggested buying several kits instead of one large package to save cash. Think we saved around £200-250 by doing it that way plus we have some components left over.....mind you mixing it up was like being back in the school chemistry lab, lol  :o

I've been getting terribly dusty, removing layers of painted lime plaster and more recently-applied plasterboard in readiness to add a lintel and remove brickwork to create a new entrance to the main bedroom. It's a means to an end though and if it saves my poor DH some work, it's all good.

He's been working a few hours each evening after arriving home from his strenuous day job, so he's having a well-deserved day off today. We decided to treat ourselves to a spot of retail therapy/Christmas shopping and managed to pick up a few bargains at Homesense, including a superb clock for the kitchen chimney breast (£60 with a RRP of £260!!!), more copper pots (£90 down to £30) and some stocking fillers. We spent £145, saving a whopping £316  :)

It's been a super sunny day with more good weather forecast which is great for DH but also means I'll be able to get back on with the gardening here. Walking round with the dogs earlier I noticed that of the 43 roses in our designated rose beds, 27 are still flowering/in bud.....which is great considering how wet/grim it's been of late!

    Enjoy the sunshine/weekend/champagne moments!
